What is going on with the Hamb?...

I've noticed several threads where people responded, and in their response, a word will be underlined...I click on the word and it opens a new window trying to sell me something. In Ryans thread on Lost Hot Rods is the latest...someone said something about hubcaps for sale , and the word hubcaps is underlined...click on it and it opens a new window on where to find hubcaps...I've noticed this in many threads.

 

I haven't seen that anywhere on here.

 

I just looked at the Lost Hot rod thread by Ryan and I don't see what you are talking about. There's nothing underlined or linked too. Sounds like it might be on your end of the computer. I would guess you are infested with spyware.

 

I just edited my original post to read hubcaps for sale and it came up again...

What kind of anti virus software are you running? After years of purchasing Norton or McCafree (sp) I finally stumbled upon a totally free system called AVG. It works great and it is free. You can purchace upgrades to it if so inclined. You can download it but you need to uninstall any old antivirus software as they tend to fight each other and make things difficult.

You have an infection and need to get it quarantined. It's only going to get worse and screw up your registry.

 

As the nice Indian guy told me on the phone....your computer has a cold.....

 

Mine is the same way. I just try not to click on them.

Hey 3w, I've got it too. Been going on for a few months here. Maybe need the computer doctor.

 

Larry - I think your PC is infected with a similar virus that I have. They told me to buy more 32 parts and it would clear up. I keep buying more...but it still hasn't cleared up.

I am seeing the same underlined word links as you are on my home PC...but not my work PC...which leads me to believe it is some virus program we've contracted.

Ive had this before and fixed it but I dont recall exactly how. however if I did catch it again this would be my first port of call.

it will install as a trial but will work afterwoods for free.

once installed and the datebase updates itself, run the quick scan, and also the memory scan.
you can run full scan later.



you dont need to uninstall your antivirus software, it wont clash, it just picks up things the others dont. you dont like it you can uninstall it no harm done.

if this doesnt work, you can call me names later. but its the best starting point that may save a lot of time.
