There is better quality images with helmet! Hmm, on helmet is 3 or 4 layers of silver, lacquer ha ha! again again again do it again! With silver all is ok! Problems is with top coat! I buy good devilbis spray gun for top coat! But yellowing is problem, good tinting for lacquer too! Im so tired of all this learning :(

I've been reading your comments on this thread Nads.........it's obvious that you have a grudge or hatred against this chrome spray system and what it did to your buddy.....but what did these guys ever do to you personally?

Everybody can see you are trying to start shit and get this thread shut down, when what these guys like or believe in is none of your concern to begin with.....there are many threads I don't like on here, so I don't visit them more than once after discovering they are not to my taste.

Don't get this thread shut down because you want to be petty over something that happened in the past....these guys didn't screw you our your buddy over. Let them enjoy this long running thread and you can find something else to read about.:)

With the US moving to a more greener nation the hard chroming industry years are numbered. The EPA is raising the bar for toxic emissions which means high remediation cost that the chromer's will pass on to the customer. Like everything else you will getting your plating done in China. So I guess an alternate method that's affordable is worth looking into. Hell, I look at my Chevy truck grill it's most likely sprayed chrome on plastic.

The OEM's (like your late model Chevy) typically are using vacuum metalizing to "chrome" plastic. It isn't chromium, it's actually aluminum. It isn't even an electrolytic process.

Yess, I know crystal clear coat! It is much expensive! I use good, not cheap professional car clear coat and get yellow tone! I will try crystal

Just have to call Bulldust on that one!!
Most OEM Plastic is chromed using the same basic system as the old days with metal. The trick is to get the chrome to 'stick' on the plastic. Its special plastic with some metallic properties that allow it to carry a charge to electro coat over it.

You are correct about your vacuum metalizing in one respect... its used for headlamp reflectors in modern OEM.

Hmm, i think it is wrong! If u know real chrome technique u know, that all acids are to strong for plastic! These all chemicals just eat down plastic! There is something different :)

Hi sudzhis, is this helmet finished with topcoat yet? I still stuck with topcoat although I've used automotive clear but got much darker color tone. Please share your experience. Very frustrated now!

  25. TIG welders are not traditional either...who cares how the process is achieved as long as the final result is acceptable. Been fucked by many a chrome shop over the years...this stuff looks good to me.

    Hi!

Spoon looks great! Ill stuck now with sensitizer (stannous chloride) AG sent to me this sensitizer and ir go bad after THREE days! shit!

Now i try to mix it by my self!

Not, this helmet was without clear coat! I havnt images with coated helmet. Yes it stays darker, but i attach a little blue tint and all is ok! When i got done with SnCl i will try crystal clear coat- it is +/- 150$ for one litter  This clear coat is extra strong and extra clear like water! I dont know how it works for now!
