It looks to be a 53 Ford but is hard to notice with her in the car.

The little dragster was 1968 World Champion Jim Green from Washington. Ray Hadford drove it. Lovelle Bros were Irwindale regulars with their 9 second A/Street roadster. And Don Hamptons twin tandem AA/C served as the basis for the twin egined Corvette flopper that surfaced in 1970.

55 Chevy ran nitro and qualified for a few 8 car open AA/FC events in 1966. Ran mid to low nines. Errant AA/FA is Roger Garten in the Bishop & Bheul car.

"From as early as 1962, the General Electric Ordinance Dept. in Pittsfield, Mass., undertook a study for the US Army which may lead to the building of a manned walking machine, with arms and legs, ….. where tractors might get stuck."

Palamides built the car, he didnt own or run it. I cant think of the guy who ran it. Maybe my memory will kick in after some McDonalds coffee. Strong argument for wearing nomex gloves though. Nice, hot jet fuel bath.

I think you meant mid-60's, that's a '64 or '65 Cutlass they're in and an early 60's Corvair behind them.
