    Details are just wonderful...stepped the column for clearance?

  3. A friend asked me to build him another 29 RPU after he had sold his last one. So about 6 months ago here is where I was on it;

    Then about a month ago I really got going on it.

    We decided I could make the GNRS in January, even though I only work on it Saturday's and the occasional evening. Well, here we are as of yesterday:

    I guess we might make it.

    I 1st built it as a modified. Didn’t have room to even haul rain gear, found and old beat up model A box, cut it down to fit. Works out much better!!

    I hear ya...but if it's any consolation, I spent a couple of hours sorting out the fitment of my front end sheet metal yesterday afternoon! There's hope for you!

  21. Changed a few things since i got it back a few yrs ago after a 25 yr absence in my garage. It's still about the same as i built it over 30 yrs ago thou. Same paint i sprayed on it except the stripes where added by the last guy. Can't get them off so i live with it.

    picked this up last summer, a phantom '31 sport coupe pickup, or I guess you could call it a semi-roadster pickup?? I liked it because it was different. Wheels will be steelies powder coated in tan to match the top/tonneau with small V8 type caps this spring. Hate the wheels it came with.

    Here's the Tommy Sparks '29 RPU with current owner David Steele.

    It might just be me, but it bugs me to hear a statement like that.

    As far as I'm concerned it is not Tommy Sparks 29 RPU.

    It belongs to David Steele and is his. Tommy Sparks built it, but that is past history and I'd be pissed if I owned it and saw it described that way.

    Hmm, that's funny, David is a friend of mine and he calls it the Tommy Sparks RPU all the time. He considers himself to be the caretaker of Tommy's car.
