Chain drive was common on Sterling (and possibly other) trucks up to the late 50's.

Louise Brooks in a publicity pic for Photoplay magazine. One of the
under-rated silent film stars. But there was a lot more to this brainy
woman than just looks, if you take a minute to look up her bio.

TCM was showing Andy Hardy movies last night. Remember Andy's roadster? He put $12 down but had to come up with the other $8 in a short time. (Could you really buy a running, driving, roadster in 1939 for 20 bucks??)

John Arthur ("Jack") Johnson (March 31, 1878 – June 10, 1946), nicknamed the "Galveston Giant," was an American boxer. At the height of the Jim Crow era, Johnson became the first African American world heavyweight boxing champion (1908–1915). In a documentary about his life, Ken Burns notes that "for more than thirteen years, Jack Johnson was the most famous and the most notorious African-American on Earth."

The Ken Burns documentary is excellent. Jack sure loved his fast cars.

While there were other drivers of color Wendell Scott was the first Negro driver to win a NASCAR race. With everything he accomplished in the early days of NASCAR neither he nor any other driver of color has been inducted into the NASCAR haul of fame! They were again passed over in 2013 Inductions Wendell was 3rd in line in the list of inducties but was again not named into the Hall of Fame!
