You know Don, I am thinking the same thing. Was it me or the times? There are 40 years worth of rules that have came along since then. A lot less bullshit to live through...........Anyway, I think that i ignored most of the rules that we did have.
i know one thing, I sure did go through a lot of cars in the 70s.

  2. It was a long ways back in the thread but the short version is that what we were doing had a lot to do with what we built in the '70s.

Is the car culture driven by popular culture or is popular culture driven by car culture. Go to any era and find out how the people lived and you will have a greater understanding of the cars and or motor cycles that they built.

Man, I hate that lowered, tubbed 80's look. It is the last thing I would want on the new site. I took the name from the Street Machine Nationals, which was originally a 70s phenomenon. You explanation of where the name Street Freak came from is not something I have heard before, but it makes a lot of sense. Change in progress.

I just cleaned some Drama off this Thread.

( by Users request, and it got reported )

Remember that is thread is Off Topic to begin with.
So it will not survive, if its going to go to far Off Topic or get Dramatic again.

Getting close to closing this one down. You fellas realize this is a pre-65 traditional hot rod forum, right? Please take later stuff to dogfightmag.com. There are no exceptions, so don't ask for one.

    Thanks!

I think most of us (that have been posting on this thread) have tried to keep it vintage, and true to the era. I can see your objection to some of the postings lately.
You are the Boss, and I appreciate your allowing this thread to stay open as long as it has. So, if you feel it is time to shut down this thread, I understand. The rules of this Forum have been well spelled out.

And you havent asked for mine either, so I'll give it anyway.

I think its funny that there is ( any ) reluctance to go to the Dogfight.

You have threads going on on the HAMB about how cool it was to be one of the early pioneering members here.

    So here is your chance....

Go there and help shape it ( like the HAMB Members have done here )

Or ignore it and keep bitching about O/T stuff getting deleted on the HAMB.

    Its entirely up to you.

I bet the nuts and bolts part of that board is a hell of a lot slicker than the HAMB was in the early days too.

Thanks so much for the nice words... Jesus...

  26. dogfightmag.com sounds like a site started by micheal vicks fans and friends

doesnt sound anything near a car related site maybe thats why there isnt 1/100 of the traffic on it as there is on the hamb

there is still a thread on the custom vans on the hamb even though its titled 60's vans making a comeback the van craze didnt even start until the mid 70's i havent looked at that thread in awhile but i know its atleast 3 years old and theres nothing traditional on it because noone cared about or really knew what avan was before 65 because vans as we know them werent being built until 65

so if that thread can run whats the problem with this one 20's, 30's 40's 50' 60's and even 70's cars built in the 70's ARE TRADITIONAL

just like i dont understand why the later cars are removed from the vintage drag car thread i completely understand not allowing the 80's and newer stuff

ok so what if the people who reply and like this thread start a social group about the 70's here on the hamb would that be cool? instaed of going to another site just to view one of our favorite threads?

so what do you all say wanna set up a 70's social group if its ok with the mods

Ok... Well, you don't have to post your post 65 stuff there, but you can't post it here. Fair enough. Carry on.

    Yes.

I agree, '70s cars are Traditional.

But they fall outside of the era that the HAMB focuses on.
So they are Off Topic here.

The mid 60s cut off was chosen for a reason...

Its to keep the Ponycars and the Musclecars out.
