    Hello,
I would like to know if it would be possible to sub-categorize the home made tools and equipment...section? I love the information that is offered now, though I feel that it would be better to list the tools and equipment by category.[/COLOR]

Sorry - no changes unless Ryan is working on something I may not be aware of.

The flood gates would open if we start sub-catagorizing everything, then everyone wants their specific wants sub-catorgorized.

Suggest you make your own social group which in itself is catorgorizing what you specifically want with like minded fellas.

    Thanks,

I really don’t get why there cant be a few sub category sections added.

Yeah I know the old its not broke thing …. But the poor hamb page has such high traffic a post (if not super popular) is bumped down 10 or 12 pages in 12 hours….kinda hard to get replies to a question like that.

Im in no way suggesting some crazy split of everything just maybe split off a few things
    Builds
    Tech - repair questions
    Racing

Im sure you guys know people that would help moderate new sections

I do enjoy the handmade tool section and the ingenuity that comes along with the thread. However, it is kinda difficult if I want some inspiration for a "belt grinder" to search through the over 1700 replies. I understand that it would be a lot of work, and would be open to suggestions. Does anyone know how to store or group certain posts together instead of an entire thread? I subscribed to the "home made tools and equipment... "thread, though I would like to store the posts individually.

  6. You can do it if you want .
Make a post, in that post list your categories, under those categories add the links to the individual posts of the tool pertaining to the categories.

For an idea of how to do this check out scooter s hemi tech thread and index

What you don't realise is once you make any- ANY exceptions, ANY NEW SECTIONS the FLOOD gates open up full bore with over 100,000 people wanting this thing or that thing or new section or sub catorgorized, so NO unless the man has a new program in the works, it will stay as it is.

I don't think you realise how many - can you make just one exception ?
Moderators have had over the years.

Don't forget - concerning the classifieds section - it is a gift and NOT the main reason the HAMB is, what it is, so in my case and I hope all of yours - you will be happy and appreciate that we have the classifieds or pther groups are as they are.

Meaning all the sections......... classifieds included.

Just History .......if you allow one acception, the flood gates open to everyone wants a subcatagory of their specific wants etc and the HAMB then does not stay what it is today.

    Thats what I meant...........

Again - unless the man has something in the works I am not aware of.

I think I should leave this one alone and stick to learning, instead of suggesting things. (probably not the best way for a FNG to start out) I did edit the thread because what I was trying to initially suggest is to have a separate category for certain tools (ie. welding tables, English wheels, belt grinders, etc.) as opposed to them all shoved into one thread. Fortunately, through some searching, I found information I can use over at http://allmetalshaping.com/ There are several sections for specific machines with technical discussion and suggestions for improvement of certain tools. Forgive me for being the FNG.
