Jim Matuszak and Al Bergler have been busy getting all of the original parts and pieces together to bring back an iconic flopper from the early 70s back to life. The Candymatic flopper driven be Clare Sanders set several records back in the day. I think its great to see another legend come back to life. It will be at Aurorama with several other floppers and front engine dragsters if you want to see it.

Looks great! I guess they worked things out with the judge.... I heard he made it tough on those with Ramcharger cars.

You can say that again. Its too bad that lawyers have to get involved in restoring an iconic race car but unfortunately they did. Hopefully its all over but you never know.

The flopper will just do the cackle fests but Jim has this car that a mutual friend will drive at race weekends that have races along with the cackle fest.

There's no one better at restoring these cars than Al Bergler!

Wait till you see this car in person, it's great. The guys are leaving no stone unturned looking for the orignal or period correct parts for this restoration. The "project Manger" is a pain in the ass(he is a personal friend of HEMIFARRIS) .They have a picture of the "MowtownShaker" and this car at Martin 131 doing side by side burnouts.Gonna be a fun year!!

I'm happy that Clare has joined us and hopefully will add to the history of ths project. I took some pictures of the painted body less lettering that are in my Candymatic album on my home page. The body then was sent out the same guy who lettered it originally. It doesn't get any more original than that.

That car is sweet, but without getting all pissy, can someone tell me why this isnt severely OT?

Another cool shot. Clare said "Phil Goulet wouldn't let me do "Chi-Town" burnouts very often, but... our 1st race "back" at Detroit Dragway (hadn't raced there for years), he told me to "show 'em what a REAL Funny Car looks like". BIG burnout, low ET and Top Speed, won the race. Phil actually smiled!"
