What do you do when you get flooded with really good buys on cool cars? I mean in the last 4-5 days I have been called about several cars that I have been after for years and they are all calling me now. These are cars that have been in hiding for along time and they are really good buys, and I just dont have any cash. I might be able to sell a bunch of my stuff and buy one then sell it for a good profit then buy a couple more then sell them and come out really good and keep a couple or something like that, I mean I hate to sound like a horder of cars I dont own but I dont want to just p*** these cars on when they are really good buys and I know I can make lots of money on them....Kinda stressed, I need the money so badly right now, and seems as though they are all coming up at once, I just dont know what the deal is, is there something going on I dont know about in the car world that everyone is selling their cool ****? Not too hard to figure out... I think people see the economy, jobs, higher taxes, and poor government getting worse and worse a**** other things. I think alot of guys selling cars now feel that the longer they wait the less the car will be worth, and if you've been watching selling prices or evilbay you can see that's a fact.... a lot of nice cars aren't bringing ****.

yep, being put in this situation ****s. do you know of someone with cash that you can partner up with? buy some lottery tickets. going into even temporary debt to buy a ride, even a super deal, can backfire on you.

Can you really be a hoarder of cars if you don't own them?

If they're such good buys, maybe you could work out a deal with someone that has the cash to spend, especially if they are as good of buys as you imply, and you intend to flip them anyway. Free enterprise baby, it takes money to make money.

Yea but some of these are really crazy....like a 39 ford coupe, $1000, 40 coupe, runs drives, 327 4-speed decent old hotrod from the late 60's $7500, that one might not be a great buy but it is just an awesome car! 50 merc coupe with the 331 cad engine $3000, and so on......some are kinda no brainers..Jim

Take out a high interest signature loan if you have the time, and space to buy all those cars at once. Sell them all off, pay off the loan immediately and put the profit in your savings account so you don't have to take a loan out next time around.

Never had that problem. Seems like when you have the money you don't run into deals.

If I were closer I'd say lets go get these cars. We'd figure something out that benefits us both.

Had a Friend that would take out a 90 day note to deal with your situation, then he would work his *** off to sell enough to pay it back. Risky but I watched him do it time after time. Some times he would just do a quick spruce up and take them to an auction in an area where they were worth more.

Did the 90 day full pay loan deal many years ago a couple of times. Really had to churn and burn to turn the cars but it worked out--was nervous as could be the whole time--wouldn't do it again at my age.

Yeesh...that's tough. Ok, initially I was thinking 50 merc-illac but after looking at the pics it looks to be on the rough side. 39' ford coupe...yeah, pretty ultimate but you have a chance at a 40' which is even more ultimate and sounds like you can get into it and drive it AND its got three pedals and a hot small block. It's the most expensive option but sounds like you get the biggest bang for your buck. Maybe get a loan for that one and skip the rest. That's my take on it. JohnnyA

dig deep and view the entire picture here as to why these cars are becoming available to purchase, for every 50 i p*** on there are 100 more right behind them. Makes me glad the one i have for sale doesn't need to sell because now the market feels shakey still.

Exactly my thought.......in fact at about the 3rd post count I posted "There is a Depression on it's way.....next year these cars will be even cheaper"......but I deleted it, thinking it was too negative, even though I think it is essentially true.

There is an old adage "buy and sell in the same market"....meaning that a deal should be a good deal under current market cir***stances and not require time to p***....having to wait for a market change in order to make money is often a financial 'killer'.

    That could be true..

I was dealing during the last big collector crash in the late 80s/early 90s, and there was a way to keep turning a good profit.

But it is much different now, as far as what is affecting things.

That is why so many barn find 32s are popping up, as well as countless other popular cars.

Study history of the last great depression that started in late 29....the big expensive cars managed to survive for quite a few years in that climate, but 10 years later, Cords, Auburns, Duesenbergs, Marmon V16, and others became extinct...never to return.

The economy has some effect on the car market....but if you watch the auctions, 69 corvette....$610,000.00....what depression? The 2%er's are doing very well, its us others that do not have the extra money to buy these super buys that come up like the orig poster has stated.

Here is another factor....us older buyers of older cars are getting thinner.... and building a car now is great big bucks once you find one...I will have over $20,000.00 in my fleetline and I am doing ALL the work on it except for the transmission....this will be my last one....In conclusion, suppy is up on older cars and demand is going down....for those that have had formal econ cl***es....the market will operate on the supply/demand curve and that is what is happening in the old car market....and it does not help when our incomes are going south while costs are going north....there are just so many rich that want older cars....and those are the one of a kinds or old Packards, etc.

I know here in WNC, when you go to a car show, 90% of the those there with cars are 55 and most above 60

Want to see what is selling or doing good......look at the corporations that sell hi tech items. I phones, etc....they are rolling in dough these days....and the buyers....all young or younger types.

All my neighbors are young.....NONE.....NONE.....have a garage in their new houses for their cars....they have bicycles and kyacks and dogs that have priority...and their new volvo's, etc sit outside....only one house other than mine has a garage and its my OLD house next door. The dog lives in the garage...not either of their two cars.

Lets face it....the over 55 generation is one of the last for creating demand for these common old cars and I see demand even dropping more as time goes by.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ agree completely.

The high end auctions for true Cl***ic European and American cars is surprisingly healthy. The super rich are paying big money for top quality cars. But that ain't the market we are talking about in this forum........this seems to be lower and middle income people for the most part.....and 68 Vette's comment are on point, IMO.

I think it would be hard to hustle and flip these in today's market. I wouldn't want to stick my neck out too far. However, we are all here on this sight because we love cars... if it was me, I would look at which one (1) I really wanted to have, to experience and maybe eventually to turn, and then somehow will that to happen. ;) You have to "will it" within your means. Don't bite off too much on an impulse... robber:)

I just dont see how it would be hard to make money on a 39 deluxe ford coupe, if I buy a 39 for a grand, and it is a fairly complete car, has nice grill, nice front clip, rust in the floors and in the rockers, but very good rod material, now how is that car not worth double that, how is that car not a $2000 car? I am just looking at these cars as a means to get the gl*** and the interior done in my ford and a little more car money put back in my car stash. Jim
