    Fretwells was in Oklahoma City in the 50's. The 1 on the license plate designates Oklahoma County.

    Picture of my 1941 Plymouth in May of 1956, with my younger Brother Johnny at age 5. I have many more from years gone by of some of my old Cars.
    I was 15 when I bought it for $75.00 & my Dad Drove it home. I work at odd jobs to make enough money to buy. Oh 1 btw I work for $1.00 per Hour, Gasoline was 26.9 cents per Gal.

    Didn't someone recently dig this wagon out of someones garage? Could have sworn I saw the story about it on one of the wagon forums.

    Odd thing to me about that Cougar - anyone else think the design looks a bit dated, considering it was first shown in 1962? If Ford had built it in 1954 it would have been thought of as a potential Thunderbird, or maybe an American response to the Mercedes Gullwing, but eight years later - especially compared to the original two-seat mid-engined Mustang that came out at the same time - the Cougar looks like a throwback. JMO...

    Yes -I remember an article in one of the car mags on this a couple of years ago - if I remember correctly it was practically stolen from the woman who owned it and didn’t know what she had.

    I've been enjoying this thread for a long time but have only been lurking. Having been born after most of the photos in this thread had been taken I didn't think I had anything original to offer. However, I realized today I had something hanging over my desk here that fit in;

    [IMG]

    This is my Dad with one of his race cars from the mid 50's. I Believe this photo was taken at the Utah State Fairgrounds. Unfortunately there hasn't been a race track there since the 60's. Seems most of my Dad's race cars were based on '34 Fords. About 10 years ago I dug up some of my Dad's old photos, discovered this one in pretty bad condition with lots of cracks. I scanned it and repaired it digitally and blew it up about double the original size. I lost that file some time ago so I had to take my copy out of the frame and scan it again to post it here.

    Thanks for all the great photos you guys are posting here, it's been a great education and inspiration.
