This is 100% my formula! I use only AG wetting agent!
In pics looks ok, but there is little fogy on silver, but i know why! Silver nitrate is bad or not poor or amonia is to old! I try to fix that next week!

I did try the Alsa ChromeFx chemicals and coatings. I found them to be of the highest quality.. but on the chemical side they are not to far away from the alsa chemicals, so if you are on a budget, I would say stay with the AG chemicals, but on the coating side(top coat side) I found out that you could save alot of trouble by just buying their tinted clear

Nicamarvin can u one more time explane about color!

I talk with friends from car paint garage and they dont know nothing about urethane colors!

    What i will try:

    1. ground color
    2. work with sand paper to make good glossy surface
    3. base color- white
    4. clear coat (lacquer)
    5. silver
    6. tinted clear coat

It is right? Do silver on lacquer works Ok?

I´m not sure what are you talking about. what I said is, 2k Urethane clear coat is not acrylic paint. and urethane is not a color is whats the coating made of. they use 2k because its 2 parsts(actually 3) the clear(or color if its single stage) the reducer and the Catalizer(that bonds the coating into a single coat)

we dont use the term lacquer any longer. there are newer coatings to be had..

I have posted the order of things on this thread. you can read past post to see it yourself. but I´ll do aquick post about it..

for plastics that are to be flexed..

primer for plastics(will hold on to the plastic and wont crack when flexed)

black or white base coat and 2k clear coat(or single stage black/white 2k urethane)

    prep for silver(clean, wetting agent)

    Silver.

    Dry.

    tinted clear coat

:) English is not my native language and i was wrong with coatings! :D

My good friend have a car repair garage and base coat and clear coat is not any problem! I will try to find urethane coat, to try it!

Its mean that prep for silvering is almost that same like car painting-
    - primer
    - base
    - clear coat

Nicamarvin what u are doing now? No silvering anymore?

    Hi!
Today i spent some hours in silvering again!
I decided that maybe my chemicals is not to poor enough and i buy today carbon filter for filtering then! Never never never filter your chemicals with carbon filter ha ha!
I mix amonia and silver nitrate and filter it several times! Later i realized that silver solution does not smell of ammonia anymore :D I let it to try and YES= no reaction :D absolutely zero :D
I add ammonia bet result was not so good, because i think lot of silver stay in filter! haha

How ewer small dots or clouds or almost transparent spider web, or whatever how i call it is still on surface! Maybe my sodium carbonate is bad :( I will try to buy it this week new!

it wont make any difference(for small to medium sized pieces) it will work for larger pieces. remember, compressed air is not a good friend of Silvering

I just tired to use these hand spray bottles! I make my own gun, but it isnt comfortable in use! And in this gun i know that both liquids will spray similarly! These cheap chinese guns is rubbish and i cant get similar sprays!

    Why compressed air is bad?

its not impossilbe if you follow my "Tips and Tricks" thats what this thread is all about. making this process as simple as it can possibly get.

I dont mix my own on my garage because I cant get the consistancy required for a business enterprice. too many variables.

no. it was inconsistant from one mix to the other. I could always silver. but I did not wish to add more complexity to this process. its as complex as it gets

no. it means you will have to work with what you haven been dealt with. but dont expect other forum posters to do as good as you. thats why I created this thread for. to make it as easy as it can, without compromising anything

Thanks for Your help here, without Your experience it would be much harder to do! I will try to share my experience here too!

  29. Amazing stuff !! Thinking about doing some parts.
Latvia and Nicaragua and I'm reading this thread in SW Oregon.
My Grand parents immigrated to the USA from Lithuania in the 1890's so this thread holds alot of significance in some way. Family history says they met in Riga, Latvia.

A question. What heat can this process resist. Valve cover temp's??
    Maybe 200*C ?
