Close. Matched the raised cowl and waistline. Roof wasn't correlated.

I found a few more of these from 1942 and 1948. Interesting look.

Circa 1959. The Lincoln Futura promoting the movie "It started with a kiss." 6 years later this car was turned into the Batmobile

The Old Motor Feature Series – The New York to Paris Great Race of 1908 – Part II is up on The Old Motor.

This 1904 photo shows The E.R. Thomas Motor Company factory on Niagara Street, Buffalo N.Y. With other factory workers, we see George Schuster who went on to become the winning driver in the race is seated in the foreground behind the wheel of a new Thomas. See and read Jeff Mahl's excellent Part II post.

There was an episode that had to do with a shipping yard and I think the guy that owned the shipping yard daughter. The girl drove a Mako Shark such as this one.

This pre war dry lakes racing photo is one of our favorite later photos out of the Henry Austin Clark collection. It shows a Model T Ford racer being kick-started with the hand crank. The engine is equipped with an eight-valve Rajo overhead valve conversion head, possibly a Model B or BB racing head with a pair of dual down-draft carburetors on a special intake manifold.

I appears to possibly be a press photo, so at this point we do not know if this photo has been circulated at all. Study it and if you know any details about the car, owner, date or the race meet, please send us a comment.

We also have an enlargement of this photo you can study at theoldmotor.com

And please make a contrubution to our fundraiser for the non-profit McPherson College for equipment and tools if possible. All the details can be found here.

  14. "The luggage rack added a cool, adventurous look. And a necessity."

My granddaughter and I are planning a trip across the desert in my O/T Vette convertible.
I went looking for a luggage rack. No luck. I asked the local Vette shop what do I do with luggage for two people for two weeks when there isn't any trunk. His answer was to pack everything for Taylor and me in a box and ship it to my brother in law's house in Santa Maria.
There is just barely enough room for two days worth of clothes for the two of us.

If you don't want one of the several bolt on kind a simple google/Bing search bring up, (They ARE available!) I'm thinking our suction cups and a rack of some kind, (with access for the gas filler?) or a foam pad and a cargo net and/or straps going from under the bumper to inside the top cover? Same idea as the "cheap" pads and straps I use to put a kayak on my also off topic Civic or MGB-GT.

I saw that episode recently. I don't think they actually show her driving the car, just the illusion. At one point she got out of it and got something out of the trunk and SLAMMED the lid.

    Guys, seriously. WTF???
I realise this is a 'conversational kinda place', and I am guilty of allowing myself to get a bit distracted from the topic at times - heck, I've said things about some of the cheesecake pics that are posted on this thread that don't really relate to either vintage photos or traditoinal rods, but MB starts off by moaning that his OT Vette won't allow enough baggage for a trip away and then we get into a discussion about suction pad cargo racks and stretchy nets and stuff.
I have no problem about people reposting things a number of times, and many of the inane comments are what makes this place so much fun (not too many people up on soapboxes), but guys, if you posted this as a separate thread - I'm sure it would get closed and deleted.
Here on the biggest thread on the HAMB, it is even more inappropriate.
Of couse, this is just my $0.02 worth
OK, so flame me now for sharing it.

This must be somewhere in France in end of the 50's.
Renault garage. I know they imported the tiny Dauphine (car on the door, right) to U.S. in 50's and early 60's, but did they ever imported the bigger models, such as the Fregate on the left? A nice mid-class car with 2 liter engine...

  29. Dad bud,
I totally agree, and apologize for hi-jacking the thread. Don't know where all that came from. Must have been something in my coffee.
My bad...this thread is sacred to me.
