I'm going to look at all the pieces of a '28 phaeton on Saturday. It's all there but all needs work. My question isn't about the cost to put it together. Only what a completely put together, with latching doors and all the rest, bare metal '28 Ford tub body would be worth in your area?

The asking price isn't the point but thanks. We're only talking about a completely restore body price. I'm looking for guidance concerning whether it's worth it to take it on or not.

You're not understanding. I'm not looking for what it's worth in pieces. I know that much. But it would be good to know what the value would be if it was restored in bare metal.

  6. i'd say about $4000-5000...though we are in tha same area...

Either back to original or set up for a pinched '32 chassis. Ready for body work and paint. I'm not a hack.

I don't know if anyone can give you any kind of accurate answer. There are so many variables and without seeing the body close up a body man would even have a problem telling you any meaningful number. So much depends on how much you can do yourself, but even at that high quality supplies to do bodywork and paintwork are getting more expensive every day.

Besides, you know the old saying....." It is going to cost twice as much as you think and take 3 times longer." No truer words were ever spoken. :)

I'm just asking what a totally together, completely complete phaeton body is worth. I don't give a shit what it costs to build it. That's not the question. I know the answer to that.... How much would a sane man pay for one that's complete and right.

  12. PIck a number from 2-9 out of a hat. Multiply by $1000. See who bites.

  13. Doug, for a nice tub ready to Go on a frame and ready for some finishing work and paint id say around 4-5k. If it has a windshield, WS frame, top irons, ect the price will be a little more.

    I want a 28-29 phaeton...keep me in mind!!

  14. Shit who am i kidding...I want it all :D

I'd say 5K is your top dollar. I see the same nice 28-29 phaeton body drug to Portland every year and they've got it at $6500. They're not everybody's taste...though I know a lot of die hard hot rodders that go crazy for em. JohnnyA

Thanks Johnie, It may be hard to sell, like that's all I need. The guy better keep it and take my A body dolly over to his shop and keep it. We both know he has much more energy than me.

I think I'd rather help him turn it into something later instead. Just get that dolly out of my yard. I'm calling him back in the morning.
