Any Anglia cars or projects out there?

I believe you replyed to my inquiry about a straight axle for the 48 Thames. Yes, I'm an ONDR member and reently sold my 33 Willys to get the 48 Thames.

 

this one is headed to a new owner in northern wisconsin...gonna miss the 12 spokes & pennys foremost slicks.

I have just purchased a 1950 Anglia, but I must finish my current gasser project a Willys 1938 sedan first.

Sure is, some say 3 hole grill is most desirable.

Any one want to share photos of a coil over front end they have on an anglia.

I am currently running a parriall leaf spring tube axle

had such handling proplems (duck walk) on the big end i had to add coil overs to replace the std. Shocks to fix it.
The car runs 108 mph in the 1/8 mile and has been 136 mph in the quarter



handles very nice now but want to get rid of the redundency and extra weight

looking into a 4-link w/ coil overs perhaps like an early funny car set up?

Any info. /pictures/experiance would help

 

3 hole grills are a one year deal in the USA. They came on 1948s, first year of import.

 

Car has a ladder bar rear and i recently put in roll control.
(god only knows how i got that to fit)

i already fixed the (duck walk) with the front coil overs so i dont know what impact that would have had.

The roll control (sway bar) corrected the launch to both wheels up equally

 

Sorry to hi-jack, but do you guys know if this 3 hole grill is used on other Ford models too?

 

I think they were used on some earlier models in England.

Gasser yes. For the strip only. New straight axle front in progress. 383 sbc with dual 660s on top of a tunnel ram. I'll post pics when i get a little further ;-)

 

With power and torque these cars are very unforgiving at speed
mine, ("angie") has been streched to a 95.5" wheel base
it is still a handfull and very unpredictable at speed on the big end

 

I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread! You don't hear about Anglias too often and you see them even less (if ever it seems!) My family had an Anglia that unfortunately we sold a few years ago. It was my great grandfathers car and My uncle had it running about 15-20 years ago but he didn't really have the time for it and it was just parked in a barn after that. I probably could have aquired it but I had also inherited a 31 Model A from the other side of the family. I didn't have the resources or space for both so I had to choose. I had a lot of good memories with my Grandfather and his Model A, but I didn't really have a history with the anglia so the model A won. I'll have to contact the guy we sold it to one of these days and find out if he has done anything with it! Here are a few pictures I took of the Anglia a few years ago.

Wow you aren't kidding! Nice! What are your plans for it? Preservation, restoration? or Rodding?

That would be a fun pair to own in that condition and just drive them. A right hand drive and a left hand drive. You'd probably garner a lot of attention at shows with them both being in such similar condition but such different locations / history.

 

If any of you are in the Nashville Tn area, I saw a 4dr on a used car lot in Old Hickory a few weeks ago. It was on one of the first car lots on the left as you go into Old Hickory from Gallatin Rd.

Great minds think alike. I stopped working on this car 10 years ago because something was wrong. Looked over at it the other day and thought "Wow, the grills laid back too much." Straightened it up some and liked it well enough that I might start working on it again, after I finish.................
