It's 1935, not '55. I have an original copy of this ad and had to check it to make sure ... just a weird font that is hard to read.

Right, not a hi-res scan, so the type gets pretty fuzzy.

STILL, the most AWESOME Lincoln ad I've seen in quite a while! THANKS, RedlandMaggie, for posting it! (PLUS, the same-era senior Hudson, as well!)

A 14,000 pound bullet? Even the 16 and 18" shells of the last made battleships weighed about 3,000 pounds.

That was much larger than any ship mounted gun, 31" compared with a 18" for a ship. Battleships were/are limited in size and number of guns due to fatigue life of the mounts and the basic hull of the ship. Railway guns were less limited, however even by WWII they were basically an out moded weapon.

Ester Eddie, Thanks for these pics and the link, where there are even more pics. Amazing to see that the mobile library stayed in service right into recent times. That and the fact that the early one is an early Chevrolet.

Seriously, I remember when a Desert Water Bag hanging off of the front bumper of a car here in NJ was a big time status symbol. It meant that you'd been out to the wide open spaces, something we don't have too much of here in the Garden State.
