  1. That is good to hear! It def. has a twin in the area then. I thought for sure it was yours, and wondered why it would be out in the rain.

Nope, mine is running strong and healthy.

Interesting! Wonder who's it was? ...GARY?'s T is the only one I know of anywhere close to me.

I not afraid to take it out in the rain, have many times (its not gonna melt)...just don't like it much...so cold and wet.

    Check this out!

Hotrodfil sent me a PM this morning about an artist in Bristol, England named Stefan Marjoram was inspired by my roadster to make this awesome piece of art!

The original has since been sold, but Mrs. ModelT was quick with an email to ask him if he would be willing to do another commissioned original for us of my roadster.

Clayton, See, you are even inspiring enthusiasts in other continents. I sure hope that I can find the series of four mags for your write-up on your "T". I would put them in a binder together. Got to preserve the beauty and skill of your beautifull T-Roadster ! Way to go, way to go !

Clayton, Looking forward to that day. Let Chris know that I am expecting a call from him. He is such a slacker . . . .

    *UPDATE*
New parts, a clean shop and a fender bender...

It's been a while since I have really posted anything new.....just been a little burnt out after Bonneville....and Thanksgiving....and Christmas. Now it's the new year and with the roadster laid up in hibernation since the first of October....I was itching once more to do something, ANYTHING with the roadster, the Falcon or the shop itself.

After working for several weeks on the shop buildings and the foundation of the new building, I had to do something on the roadster....so with a break in the weather....I took the old girl out for a ride in the brisk afternoon...

...Then I christened the New Year by totaling my daily driver...

This happened on my way home Wednesday night. The driver 4 car lengths in front of me made a "panic stop" at 60 mph and I locked mine up trying to stop...but just slid on the wet pavement. I new I was going to hit the other car so (being in the right hand lane) I desperately tried to veer to the right and dive into the shoulder to avoid the collision but I didn't over enough, fast enough and clipped the other car at 50 mph. The impact shot me into the shoulder sideways into a 50 mph drift for 100 yards before I brought her to a stop.

Fortunately neither driver was hurt and both cars left the scene under their own power. Could have been allot worse...and thank god for full coverage :)

After that debacle and buying a new car to replace the poor Subaru.....I decided to buy myself (and the roadster) a little present. I had been looking for a correct, original convertible top rear window of a decent size for when I re-do the roadster's top.

Found this one on Ebay....cam from a 1911 Kissel Kar Roadster. Same size as the current one but is a steel frame with glass:

It came still mounted to the canvas rear curtain which gives me a look at something....

Do I stay with the tan....

    ...Or switch to black?....:D

    Something to think about...

    Hey Clayton!

Sorry to hear about the Subaru but glad that everyone is okay.

The "T" still looks great and I think I'll throw my hat in for the tan top.

  16. Glad you're okay Clayton!

    oh, and STAY WITH TAN!!!

Good to hear you came through the shunt uninjured. Them new cars are dangerous.

Another vote for the Tan. The Black looks good, but the contrast of the Tan looks better.:D

    Glad you're ok, my friend!

    The tan looks best, IMO.

  20. I kinda like the black...it accentuates the 'meanness' of the roof line.

    Wait...what was that?......I couldn't quite hear you.... :D

Thanks guys....it could have been allot worse though. Me trying to dive into the shoulder and out of the way is really what saved the day....if I had hit her square on...we both would be in the hospital.

...now I can get me a truck :)

5 votes tan and 1 black...your kinda the "black sheep" right now Gary. I kinda have to agree with ya though....it does accentuate the "meanness" . I really fell for the black when I mocked up the old top...had a "look" to it.

The tan is still a favorite of mine.....and I think I would get my ass kicked if I changed it though....

    :D

  22. Hi Clayton, found a pic on the vintage photo roadster thread and instantly thought of your car and your amazing trip to the salt:

maybe a far relative to your car? ;) who knows..

btw, i would leave the top in tan, too.

    Cheers, Carsten

Carsten, this actually is the very T on which my T was based. Roy "Multy" Aldrich built this car in the 1930s. He raced it before and after WWII and at the first "Speed Week at Bonneville in 1949. He continued to race it there well into the 1950's. It vanished in the 1980s but turned up in bad shape in 2008 at the Pamona swap meet. It is one of the most important car from the "Gowjob" era.

Search Roy "Multy" Aldrich, there are several threads here about him and the car.

Guess I'll have to stick with tan :D

Thank you kindly. We had more fun on that trip then I thought was possible.

Think about setting under a black tarp at Bonneville.

That is a very good point. it doesn't that hot for that long up here....but I do most of my driving in the summer....so camping under a black tarp in the dead of summer isn't the best idea....not to mention if I take it back to Bonneville again, yikes!

    We'll broil in that thing!

Well that wasn't the intended plan for obtaining a truck, believe me. The Subaru was on it's way out anyway.....this turn of events just expidited the ability to replace it.

I like the tan but black would add a little more evil look. I just mentioned Bonneville to throw in a practical slant. Never mind it's a hot rod. You could put foil on it if you take it back to the salt. (and grill burgers)

Clayton, First - the top looks perfect for your roadster (enough said . . . ).

Second glad that you are O.K. Wish you luck with your new ride. Jiggle Chris's elbow so he will give me a ring . . . .

I do like the tan, it just seemed to fit. Originally I wanted a light tan or white, but the brown paper we used to make the patterns just looked so good....we found a canvas to match.

I agree the black does look really good....just don't think I can turn my back on the tan.

I was very lucky....it sure could have been worse. I don't think I could my self to change it up that much....I guess the tan stays :D
