I've been making some good headway on my delivery. Since the holidays I got the shifter box built, seats are back from upholstery, rear door bottom repairs made and made new top hinges, all 3 doors are fit, adjusted and latching again. I fit up the rear fenders, got lucky and got a NOS pass fender, and had to un-radius the driver side and do some repairs. It had been radiused just over 2 inches and very crudely at that. I am currently fitting up the front fenders and building new braces and supports for them. Next I will fit the hood, front and rear bumpers. I still need to weld up my gas tank and fit all the senders, fuel lines and filler neck. Gotta finish fitting the rear floor wood and skid strips. Then it will basically be ready to blow apart, detail, plumb and finish chassis and drive line then on to body work. Still a long road ahead, but I'm making baby steps! Oh, it's Gonna be 1940 Ford " Cloud Mist Gray" with almond wheels, firewall and dash.

  3. Looking good Ed. Always have liked the looks of those 40s.
In fact, I've has an AMT model of one for many years.

  4. I've always had a soft spot for 40 Fords and have owned most body styles,,the sedan delivery always eluded me.

    Good look project. HRP

Baby steps add up. Do five onehour baby steps a week and at the end of the week you are five hours closer to being done.
I like your choice of colors, for the body and for the wheels. Keep on stepping.

A friend of mine bought a delivery from a wrecker in '75. Decent start, and it has been sitting all these years in his garage and he hasn't even looked at it.
In 1980, he bought every Bob Drake part available for it except for the deluxe grill, which wasn't in stock at the time.
And no, he won't sell it! There is also a very nice 46 coupe sitting next to it, a driver. It has been sitting there with '86 plates on since he got married at that time. Drives me crazy.

Sorry, those 2 were phone pics. not sure why they did that. Oh, I bought a supercharger today for the 350. Can't wait to see it on there!! tomorrow i fit the bumpers, running 38 Ford bumpers with modified brackets to bring them in closer to body. And hope to have time to build an air deflector to go above the grill to help channel air into the radiator. Next weekend I'll tig up my stainless gas tank and fit and mount it, and finish fitting the rear floor. Then gotta fit that supercharger into the engine bay!!! Also thinking satin black with my shop logo, instead ogf the original 40 color. I think the satin black says "Hot Rod" more than the coud mist gray.

Today I got the bumpers fit. Had to build my own rear braces and slightly modify fronts. Bumpers are 38 ford.

  20. I'm getting a little weepy looking at this. Work looks awesome. Did you repair the rear wheelwells? I would like to see that area because I know that needed a lot of love.

Yes I put some wheel wells out of a sedan in. Not exact to a delivery but close. Put on a Nos pass rear fender and readjusted the driver fender. Supercharger should be here soon!

I got the stainless 17 gal tank tigged up this weekend. And found my battery/tool box. And got my skid strips. Still waiting on the supercharger to show up and and got to finish mounting gas tank and install filler neck and fuel feed. Next 3 weekends will be a bust due to swap meets and family. But should be ready for a tear apart party by last weekend in Feb. I will have chilli beer and other drinks if anyone wants to help?:

Damn, I guess if I had a 54 Pontiac 4dr with a bad chop I'd be all the rage on here anymore!
