Nope, no deal. the production company was supposed to bring me a check for $100 the day of shooting but that didnt happen either. They "forgot" the check on shoot day and then promptly stopped returning phone calls...

If they are making a living on u-ship then they value feed back rating! Make sure they offer insurance and are bonded! And trust/read the feed back that others have left. I'm in the process of using u-ship now. I was going through transport4u but its been 15 days and they haven't found a driver for me so I figure I will cut the middle man and find someone myself on u-ship.

I bid new trailer deliveries all the time and (to this date) have not had any problems with anyone who picked one up and delivered it to a customer. Most of these guys are out there trying to make a living every day just like you and me.

I don't think you can judge by the TV show, i am sure it's like all the rest of the so-called reality shows that throw in a lot of "drama" to make things interesting and suspenseful.

I too would use someone from the HAMB who has proven they are reliable and honest.

Engineshipping.Com does a great job. They handle all the paperwork, and use national freight lines. I just had an engine shipped from Salt Lake City, UT to my doorstep in Vermont, with tailgate service, in five days, for under $ .22 a mile. Dock to dock would have been even less.

I sold a car to guy in Wisconsin and he used u-ship. It took 2 weeks for the car to be picked up and then three weeks for the guy to get delivery from California because the driver dropped cars off all over the south first.

It was an open car carrier and the car cover, spare and tools were stolen out of the trunk while it was in transit. The buyer called me all pissed off and I just reminded him he arranged the shipping and I had paperwork showing everything was there when the car was put on the trailer.

Just got my car delivered last week... Went through u-ship. After that experience all I can say is don't use a broker. Ask if they are a broker. They will make it sound like they are not but you will be better off dealing straight up with the man who owns the truck from the get go. I went through 2 brokers who said they could find me a driver and after multiple failed attempts I dropped them. Then I found Ken on uship and he was a straight shooter honest guy. He owned his own transport company and I didn't have to deal with the middle man!

  9. So are you saying you found "Ken" on UShip and all was good or don't use UShip at all?

    I guess I'm a little confused.

  10. I wouldn't use them to haul a turd across the street. Sold a scooter to a guy in Ca and HE booked them for shipping. Being I had to pick up the scooter from my other rural home I called the shipper himself and made sure when they would arrive. They assured me they would pick it up the day after I got home. I came home to a message that they needed to pick it up two days previous! They were fully aware I wouldn't be home. I then got jerked around for several more weeks. Finally they said they were on the road and would be here in the afternoon. Well it was afternoon someplace in the world but 10:30 at nite by me. Took forever to load it and they wouldn't shut off the diesel motor annoying the neighbors in the process. Never again for ANY reason. There are people here on the HAMB for shipping that do what they say. Pay a little more and no headaches with the crap you get from Ushit.

  11. Well, I already know never to trust trucking company's time frames.

I think that shippers are worse than the cable companies when it comes to their time estimates.

  12. Use one of the HAMB alliance members. I bought a T pickup bed and needed transport from back east to Texas - contacted the HAMB'ers that ship & nobody had anything coming or going my direction. Got a PM a few days later from Bill @ Bill's Auto Works that he had something coming my way the 2nd week of Feb and he could help. I didn't have to pester him - he remembered my situation and responded very quickly when something opened up. How many others would do that? To top it off, he called me yesterday to tell me that he had already contacted my seller and was going to pick the bed up this weekend. You won't get that kind of service from U-bid...

Use a HAMBer - support the Alliance!

  13. ^^ X2 for Bill's. That's what I'm talking about! I've used him several times and professional isn't a good enough word to describe his work ethics. You can set your clock to that guy.

Friend used them to ship cross country. High end Hot Rod 1932. The guy got pulled over half way across the country in Chicago and wasn't permitted to drive from there. Car got stuffed ina warehouse in God knows where. It tok an extra 2 weeks for the car to get here. Very thankful it arrived safe and sound but to have the car sitting in an unknown warehouse somewhere in a city was frightening.

I have been a shipper via uShip many times. It is a great way to pay for gas when you have some room in the truck. ALWAYS check the feedback from previous shipments. Unfortunately every trip is different. Time estimates can be tough.

I will vouch for Bill. He picked up 2 cars and a frame 3 different times and shipments. His truck and trailer were in very good condition. He was on time did a good job of loading . he was very courtious and just by accident on the second load we found out we both were hamb members. Bill is top notch I would recomend him any time.. I did not contact him about these loads the people who bought the cars and frame did all the contracting.
