Was it light purple? Looks like an old "Midas Muffler" car. I grew up in North Hollywood and the local "Midas" had a fleet of '55 and '56 nomads, all light purple with the words "Midas Muffler", and a picture of a genie with a (genie) bottle on both sides, all were kept in front of the shop at Victory and Lankershim. And "Filthy McNasty's" club was across the street. "Filthy" drove a black velvet hearse......but that's a different story. Brought back some cool memories. Thanks.
Ya .. $1700.00 would have been a deal. $17K ... WOW. That's kind of out of sight IMO. But then again the world is full of knuckleheads that'll pay.
He's asking 17k because he really doesn't want to sell it (for market price)! That's why its sitting in his yard, rather than being rebuilt in someone elses garage. Which is what the Nomad deserves.
If you want it ask what he'll sell it for without the motor/trans. that's what I do when I try to bargain something. Shoot most of the time I say they can keep their motor and trans if its a builder.
I would like to buy it so I could set it out in my front pasture and tell everyone who ask's if it's for sale i'll tell them "Hell no, I'm a going to fix that sucker up someday" !! LOL
Barrett Jackson has influenced a lot of owners to think their pile of rust is worth serious thousands. The owner will never realize what it's true market value is until he actually lists it for sale and hears some realistic, and low, offers. I noticed no hood 'V' and no trim holes on the front fenders so unless the front clip has been replaced, it started out as a 6-banger (not a big deal at all) but also might not still have the 55 Nomad 'Eyebrow Trim' (quite a big deal). His bottom price was 15k without the motors still dreaming Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
It had been rodded by somebody long ago holes probably have Bondo filling them and all the stainless trim, bumpers are accounted for in the garage supposedly Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Realistically I'm seeing from the pics. around 10k,probably was a red/ivory combo judging from the inner liftgate piece, missing diecast fender/door trim,55's never had hood v's ,just v/8 emblems under tail lights, They made a lot less nomads than 32'fords, unfortunately I like them both about the same!
