This car was stolen in Bakersfield on 1/18/13. The owner was in the hospital when someone broke into his home and stole his 1956 Chevy 210. This car was built for the owner's granddaughter to inherit. If you have any info on the whereabouts of this car, please call Mark at 661-281-5725. This is a friend so please help! Potential buyers beware the suspect also was able to steal the title so he may be trying to pass it of as him being the owner. PLEASE SHARE

Wow, how did they get the title? Was it in the glovebox or something ? If I were your friend I would be going to the DMV and putting some sort of block or cancellation on that title, if that is possible.

Having that title adds a whole new layer to this one.

Sounds like someone that knew the guy did it or the guy had it stolen. I find it hard to Believe the thief just happened to know where the title was or spent enough time in the house to find it, or knew where to look for it. Plus how did they know the guy was in the hospital? I smell a rat. Just sayin.......

It's easy to smell a rat, when we just found one a few weeks ago. If the guys like me, he may have had it in a file cabinet under "car papers". Of course I'm moving it now.

I bet it was in the glovebox or elsewhere in the car.
Beautiful car, hope it shows up. What's going on in the states, there seems to be so much of this happening?
I guess desperate people doing desperate things. A car like that is just to nice to sell for parts.

STOLEN CHEVY UPDATE. IT HAS BEEN RECOVERED IN ARIZONA. THE GUY DRIVING IT WAS THE ONE SUSPECTED OF STEALING IT.

Excellent news - we see so many of these threads and most of the time there is no recovery of the vehicle.
trust the rightful owner is OK and its good to hear that he can now still pass it on to his Granddaughter - it now has an additional tale to add to its colourful history

Neither, I mean guys like us. A steel top work table, the thiefs right hand, and a eastwing hammer, and 5 swings. I wouldn't hurt the guy........ Much. Forget jail, why should we pay to feed and house this guy with tax payers money for 2 years.

Oh. I'd just have the real cops get him. Regular guys go to jail, when they start acting like crooks and thugs. With my luck, I'd get more jail time than him for assault.

Glad you got the car back, I always worry in these kind of situations, what has that car been through while in the thieves hands.....you know that it has been abused but just how badly?? Is the car going to need mechanical work, minor or maijor, body damage minor or not you know it has not been cared for like the owner would have...just a really sickening deal all the way around....it no wonder that insurance companies pretty much always total any theft vehicle, they have the same worries...but with our classics its even more frightening....Jim

Wasn't my car. I heard about on www.trifive.com It hit close to home being it was here in Bakersfield. So I copied it here to the HAMB just to help get the word out.
One of my favorite HAMB threads was when the HAMB fouund the old Dodge panel down in Arizona
