1984 Chevy Caprice Classic wagon. Failed the parallel parking, miserably. Passed my first time, though, with either a 91 or 92. The parallel parking debacle was an automatic -6.

  3. I took my test in a 75 cj5 golden eagle with a 360. the lady was excited because she had never been in a jeep before.

when they asked me to parallel park I pulled in forward and backed up. She laughed and said I had to back into the spot. easy to park with no blind spots and a six foot wheel base.

This 57 Powder blue Nomad that was loaded, a/c, pw, pb,V-8 auto. It was a car that was given to the nuns at the Catholic school I went to. When I told my friend about it he went over and made them an offer on it. This was around 1963. And in 1965 I took my road test in it and passed 1st time out. Must have been the good karma.

  7. Took me twice. First I tried it in my chevelle - 4 speed and no power steering (and I was still getting the hang of workin a clutch). Glass packs mighta cackled a few too many times for the tester.. I live in the country so parallel parking was done on a road that didn't have a sidewalk or anything. Confused the hell outta me when he said I had to be 18 inches from the curb. Wtf? There's no curb within 3 miles of here!
Take two. Moms ancient Volvo wag. Parked it on the same country road and guy said it was a perfect 18 inches.. Still thinking he didn't like the jacked up rear end chevelle with glass packs bolted straight to headers

I didn't want to wait until after school to take the test (and lose six hours of driving time!) so I skipped school and took the test in a late seventies Chevette that belonged to my best friends older sister.

When I shifted it into drive the shifter handle came off in my hand . . . I casually tossed it over my shoulder like it was totally normal. The examiner thought it was funny, and the test was a breeze from then on.

It was in my mothers 1955 Bel Air Chevy. Scored a 100 on the written and flunked the driving part. I sped up to get through a yellow light so wouldn't have to stop. I never have been accused of being to bright.

1965 Ford LTD. I lived in a small town so it wasn't too hard to pass the test. I think I failed the parallel parking.

I already had a motorcycle license which you could get at fifteen in Texas. I took the car license test in the High School driver's ed.car, a '57 Plymouth with dual controls. It was ugly light green with dark green interior.

Got mine in 1972, first time, 63 Valiant 2dr post, /6, 3 on the tree. Failed for driving with only one hand on the wheel, right hand on the shifter, thought that was where it was supposed to be.

Second time, 65 Meteor 4 dr, 352, auto, failed when brake lights didn't work, checked and replaced fuse, brake lights worked. Instructor said, "you're not a mechanic, you're not qualified to make repairs".

Third time's the charm, same Valiant, kept my hands on the wheel other than to shift or signal.

  29. The OK Highway Patrol man and examiner was a family friend. First exam was in a 53 Ford truck. Dad said, get over there and drive (with examiner in the truck). Do what?? At 15 I walked in to his office and he said, "sit down, take this written exam!" Official exam was in Mother's 61 Chevy 6, 3 on the tree. I passed!
