I have a few cleavlands but no expert. I did read something about the x heads in the cleavland forum at one time i believe. Since H M had Ford sponsor back then, i think, they probably got them from Ford to play with. They are rare.

Well my first thought was B302; as stated they are for a windsor block/cooling system..The intake ports at the gasket surface are very rectangular [like windsor SB] where as the B302 would be very oval shape..Maybe a Nascar windsor block head from the 80's, before the yates spec head..IMO..

Any date codes? Could they be HD 302 heads like the 68 Trans Am cars?

The infamous Trans Am of 68 were the Tunnel Port 302..Like the TP427 the pushrod went through a tube in the big round intake port..I had one in my hands once but I can't remember valve placement or exhaust flange/ports...

I haven't seen it all by any means, but these are unusual!

Either they are something uncommon to us from down under, or my guess would be early development/ prototype pieces for the Boss 302. As has been mentioned, they have Windsor-style intake ports and valve cover rail along with the Windsor-style wet intake, but the exhaust and valve arrangement is more Cleveland like.

    Very unique to be sure!

I think the Aussie 2v would still have an oval shaped port like a 2v 351 cleveland [smaller than b302/4v 351C], just with water p***ages for a Windsor block,... BA Motorsports (?) made a intake manifold with smaller runners for a while to work with the 2v aussie heads..

Guys, if they have an EX prefix, they were special castings done by the experimental garage at Ford. Most likely, (and I'm sure some Ford engineers can back me on this) Ford cast these heads for H-M for some purpose. I have a pre-85 302 motor in the shop that has similar markings and appears to be a development motor to evaluate the then forthcoming roller lifter valve train.

Right, the C heads, US or Au, don't have water openings to the intake, except BOSS302 specific heads.

Those combustion chambers are not 2 bl Cleveland, the water p***age is SBF (Windsor style), the exhaust is Boss 302 style.
Only a guess that these are some form of experimental heads...
    and I'm jealous.

I would have used those heads in a heartbeat; aside from the facts that they are heavy CI and I am **** toolmaker...Back in late 70's/early 80's I tried to make something similar from 351W heads, my intent was to angle the valves for more flow but retain windsor external package to use exsisting intake/exhaust systems...Bout all I accomplished was finding lots of water, never enough material..Kaase did accomplish a package [p38] by new aluminum castings in the last five years or so..$$ but neat...

They look like Boss 351 heads to me, but I can't find any info to verify that.

    Mike

    This is interesting though.
