What is actress Debbie Reynolds doing on the corner of Hollywood and Vine in 1955?

 

Not a lot of space between the cars even in those days.

Wow! Huge wheels on that deluxe phaeton.

 

The Red Feather was the symbol for the Community Chest Foundation. They would solicit donations and give you a little red feather sticker or decal for your house window. This Feather at the corner of Hollywood and Vine was the indicator for where donations were with regard to their goal.

 

They weren't that cool in practicality, note the absence of a yellow signal. As a little kid, I had been to visit relatives in Cincinnati around 1950. Cinci had 3 stage lights and a trolley bus system. I remember wondering why we didn't have those is L.A.(although there was a limited trolley bus route). In the early '50's, the lights were replaced in L.A.
