Some day I'm going to learn how to read. Lets go ride girl's bikes sometime! Can you say Honda on here? Thanks, hope to have it on the road this summer.

Since Doc can't read, and since I don't have any new pics of the truck, and since girl's bikes rule...

It's an old one at that, no sissy repops. I'm getting ready to take it to a hole nutha level (truck and bike as far as that goes).

You should definitely show a pic.

Your new shop looks awesome. The wood floors give it warmth.

I am so lame. I brought my camera to shop night last night to get a bunch of pics for y'all. The battery died after two shots.

Anyway, here's the results from the first door. I think it turned out pretty nice. You can see the front piece I patched in along with the bottom. I need to get weather stripping on there and move the door around a little for it to be 100%, but I may need to make a cut in the lower rear inner then weld it back as it is sticking out just a tiny bit. Front fender needs to come back a hair.

Yesterday, I got the patch panels for the driver side door. When I got to the shop for shop night, I had to take a hard look at the door. It is pretty ****ed. If you remember, I have another set of doors. I took the paint off my door and saw a bunch I didn't like. So I'll end up using the other driver door, it needs inner and outer lower patches too but is in much better shape. I'll have to shave the mirror and door handle to match mine, but that work is much less than it would take to get my door in good shape.

Anyway, in this shot you can see the kind of mess I'm dealing with. And it's even worse than the pic would suggest. The lower hinge pocket is super jacked and there were dents under 1/2" of bondo that looked like bigfoot tried to make love to it. This is the door that was on my truck.

So in the next week or so, I'll get the extra door cut up and repaired along with shaving the mirror and door handle.

I figured five years start to finish. So, I've got a year and a half to get bodywork, paint, and interior done. I hope it doesn't take longer than that, lol.

Last night, I got the extra driver door up on the table to begin fixing it. I got the bottom cut out and the inner patch panel welded on. It went well, thanks to more advice from my swami Jeremy.

Next will be the outer patch panel. From lessons learned with the p***enger door, I won't be **** welding this one. I'll step the edge and use clecos to hold the door skin to the patch panel. Hopefully this will add some rigidity, and in addition to shaping this patch a little, will prevent having to do this one twice, lol. I'll also need to cut out a section on the leading edge of the door like the last one. Not sure why, but they all seem dented along that leading edge.

    Pics soon...

I've got a big decision coming up. The next big thing will be either filler and body work or interior. I hate body work. I spoke with a buddy about vinyl and carpet last night. I got some really fair pricing for what I want. As much as I hate filler, the interior will probably win out. Unless you fellas can tell me why I shouldn't. :D

Terd, you know, as soon as you get the interior done, it will turn a lighter shade of gray due to body filler permeating throughout!

Chances are the deal will be there later as well. Hate it or not, I would think getting the bodywork behind you would be a logical step.

But I'd be willing to bet that you've never been accused of being logical!!! :D

Do the body work now. Bite the bullet, cowboy up and have a couple 'pro's' come by a few times to knock out some serious gain's. Center you focus and light that fire!

Here's a couple of shots of the inside patch panel nailed in, this is the stuff I got done on Wednesday. You can see where I cut it just below the reveal molding, the patch panel doesn't have these moldings...

Today, I got some more done. I got the old hinge pocket cut out, cleaned up, and ready to weld in. And I got the outside patch panel stepped and ready to go along with cutting the outer skin.

In this shot, you can see where I've cut the outer skin and stepped the patch panel to go under the skin. I'll use clecos to hold the two pieces together tight. This should prevent the problems I had with **** welding last time.

I figure about four or five more hours to go in order to get the door back on the truck. I need to weld in the hinge pocket, weld in the outer patch, and then cut out and replace a section of the door skin on the leading edge. Then grind all the welds. More soon, I'm going to try to get it done this weekend...

I got some more work done. I cut the hinge pocket out of the old piece and welded it in the new one then got the bottom on.

Then, some small and smaller patches on the front and rear edges.

I still need to grind the welds on the inside of the door. I'll also cut out and replace a small area above the front edge patch, it's dented. Then, I'll need to shave the mirror and door handle. But it's ready to go back on the truck as it is now.

I got the driver door on. I think it turned out even better than I expected. The fit is awesome. Like the other side, the front fender will need to come back a bit. It feels really good to finally be able to say all the rust has been cut out and replaced.

    Here's a pic...

In the next couple of days, I'm going to mount new tires. Then I can start driving again, it's been a little less than two months since I took the doors off, lol. In the next week or so I'll be shaving the mirror and door handle on the driver door.

Since it will be a couple of months until I can get the rest of the front end in epoxy primer and start body work due to the temperature, I'm going to take my bike apart for plating and powder to totally finish that up. I'll also get my new seat ready to go in the truck and build brackets for it along with getting some interior stuff to the chromer. So, I'll still be knocking stuff out making progress, just not any big jobs for a bit til it warms up some.

There's still a bunch of work left, but the list is pretty short. It looks something like this...
    -Front end in epoxy primer.
    -Filler body work.
    -Paint exterior.
    -Paint interior.
-All new door innards and gl***.
    -Upholstery and carpet.

Great to see progress on this truck! Easily one of my favorite '55-'59 trucks.
