A little background on our project...

Chris Darland and Chris Miller grew up a mile apart in Southern Oregon. Attended the same schools, and re met in their late twenties in a hot rod shop. Both grew up watching American Graffiti, reading hot rod magazines, going to car shows, and cruises. It is a deep seeded passion for the cars of the past, the ones their dads created havoc in, while growing up in the same valley, going to the same schools. Darland started a hot rod shop putting muscle cars together, until a certain coupe in a friend's blackberry bush caught his eye and imagination. The car; 1934 Plymouth 5 window coupe. It's current engine is a Pontiac 400. All the work was done by Chris himself. It has been taken to participate in the TV show Pinks, shown in Viva Las Vegas, Hot Rod O Rama, Paso Robles and many other Oregon shows. Driven in the heat of the deserts, pouring rain, blizzards and fair weather. It is a daily driver and will stay that way. Made to be driven and a contender in street racing at the drop of a hat, or be a lead in one of his films.

While Miller has a more practical daily driver able to fit a wife and two kids in, a 1957 Ford Business Coupe. Pulled from a field, and previously owned by a friend of his step dad, who grew up in the same valley,....etc. This Business Coupe managed to survive the extinction brought to this model from Nascar, moonshining, and drag racing. 1 of 6,788 produced in '57, now powered by a Ford 390. Chris was raised by a Bogart, and grafted into the family, one of 6 Bogart boys who are all heavily involved in cars. Raised up working on cars instead of homework, riding everywhere in the daily drivers, some dare to call show cars. Maybe it was fate, that Miller being raised by a direct descendent of Humphrey Bogart would some day end up on film. This car also in car shows around Oregon, Northern California, and that one crazy trip to Vegas, now graces the frames of a recently completed film.

The film; American Thrill Ride. When cars, and the work that surrounds them isn't enough, maybe making movies with them would be equally gratifying. Many late nights in the streets of Medford, in winter months, in the wee hours of the morning, another passion was being fueled. Film. After 3 years and a budget that far exceeds anything we had imagined, it is complete. Even bands that inspire the work in the shop, have signed on to help soundscape the movie. Bands such as; FuManchu, Deadbolt, Agnostic Front, as well as the local area bands we enjoy on the weekends on a stage. There are few movies that have cars as famous as the lead actors. But think about it, Two Lane Blacktop, American Graffiti, Cobra, Bullitt.... It's time for another movie that will keep the hotrods ALIVE!

This movie is almost 2 hours, yes it is a low dollar film so to speak but is well put together and has a great story/plot. As the saying goes ( never judge a book by it's cover ) A few HAMBers are in the movie including me, and although many of the cars are not HAMB friendly there are a wide range of styles/years and alot of action. I think this movie is well worth the watch, give it a view, you may be surprised:)

After a brief view of the trailer I don't think it would be for me.

I didn't like the music and it seemed a little dark and almost stereotypical in the character portrayal.

I could be totally wrong it wouldn't be the first time :D

Hell. I'd watch it. I'ts got street racing, old school fist fights, new school gun play, and auto theft. I'ts definately not lacking for excitement. and the dark filming reminds me of some of the boulevard shots from American graffitti, and two lane black top. The film in it's entire length might surprise ya guys. The only question I have is what time period were you shooting for? Modern day I would think because of the music sound track. Any way I think you might have a hit, and I am an older guy that don't like much in the films that come out these days. Nice job

Even though what i saw in the trailer was a little "off" congruency-wise [sort of like the period video(see link below)], i don't feel you can really judge a movie by it's preview.

So, i think the main problem might be distribution and promotion; Perhaps give this one away free and then if it's good it will catch on and the next movie you can charge.

Now, concerning the acting on the trailer, Please review this video concerning menstruation:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHZEOweeoaE

i feel that there are at least 3 types of acting:

    1) Acting and "pulling it off" and being "phony hollyweird." This is in all theater releases from hollyweird.

    2) Acting, but not "pulling it off." This is in the period video and what i saw in the preview. This kind of acting is somewhat awkward, a little creepy and somewhat uncomfortable to watch.

    3) Not really acting, yet seeming real. There is a part of Rainman where, Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise's characters go into a doctors office. The people in the waiting room were not actors and were actual patients at the doctors office and they just talked to them and man, it was REAL.

Here is the scene beginning at about 5:00:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkDx81Reh3A

Now, what you want is generally #1 or #3. i didn't really see that in the trailer.

Then the next step would be working on distribution.
