In Gm training... or as its now called "center of knowledge" theres a VOD called Chevrolet Traditions. Has some really neat vintage stuff, set up like a do***entry, worth watching, not anything like the bad / cheesy training we normally get... (and WTF... my service advisor certs dropped from 100% to 47%... )

 

Hey, something worthwhile to do on the training site. So sick of "new" training that is Service Advisor 101 nonsense...those 4 videos nearly killed me with boredom, glad I didnt go to the hands on deal...

edit - mother grabber there is a ton of new bs training to do.....47% for me as well....

The Certs start low at the beginning of each year, as (GM) they make ALL of the tests available and you take/p*** each one throughout the year your percentage increases. You will NEVER be 100% until mid December of each year, but you can always look each day, take the courses , tests , evaluations and let your co-workers know that you are already done with yours.

I move.. A lot.... And dont get me started on IRONMAN contestants. The most oblivios, rude, arogant people on Earth. I would get to the Harbor at about 5:30 and go fishin every year just to avoid it.

 

Ironman is my dream, They arent all rude, but I know what your sayin.

There are some great stories, and real tight bonds, but then come the pro's.

Wow.....how some things never change. When I left GM/Chevrolet in Detroit in 1999, I was responsible for Service Consultant training, certification and recognition nationally. Just the comments on going from 100% compliant to much lower percentage at beginning of year bring back all the conversations we had with Service Consultants/Advisors in our national meeting.
Glad to hear that there is a Chevrolet heritage piece as part of the training. Hope it was factual and true to the history. Seems like a lot of that was lost in 1998-2002 when GM went thru trying to re-invent itself ......again.

 

You haven't missed much. You have to think of as if you were remotely taining thousands of people from all different walks of life. Some are car guys and glas, others came from bussing tables and had a great smile so the Service manager thought they would be a great fit and drive CSI numbers up. The training always has good info, but can be dull or slow at times. I am sure that if I was plucked up and stuffed into cubical world at an accounting firm-the traing vids would ****.

The latest one was a little slow---lierally the guy talked r e a l l y s l o w , but had a bunch of cool images and discussion about herritage including the first SUV and longest running model ever....the Suburban!

 

Yes, Employee of GM or GM Dealership. They are a protected/incripted video, but can bee seen remotely with correct Login/P***word. I am sure if you called up your favorite service department and made arrangements, they would set you up there to view the footage. Mabey someone on the HAMB in GM upper management can chime in or upload just the cool footage here.

 

The only training I got from Ford in 1965 was how to keep breathing when they worked you to death for $3.68 an hour !!!!! LOL

 

If anyone had trouble like I did finding it, it is course # FCF02.C12W just copy and paste that in the search on the home page of the training site...

Hell in 65 $3.68 an hour would've been good wages

 

Since 01, Buick/GMC dealer. Have it good here all by my lonesome. Most of the people I deal with are great, but have a lot of city people moving out here changing the demographics up quite a bit. Been a lot busier the last year or so for sure...

 

Glad I quite working at dealer and no longer have to do WBT's . Hourly pay is very comforting

I have alot of family that graduated from THEE Ohio State, and a friend that was the center. His Uncle went on to play for the Browns back in the day.

I have a new found respect for servise advisors. My girl bought a 2ss and the dealer does all the service work while under warranty. I learned things while talkin to them. Like dexos certified oil. And the training they go through. I did get to sit through a couple traing vids as well... Plus it helps on getting parts cheaper.

 

Thanks for the heads up. Not in service (Buick/Gmc parts manager) but i should still be able to see it. Wouldnt it be nice if the product knowledge test was made available before december so we didnt have to scramble to get it done before year end?

 

As for the product test, with out SI and the cars on the show room floor, they wouldnt ever be p***ed.

 

Yes, It was BUT at 58 hour's a week you had no time to spend it !!!! LOL

What year was Chevy founded? Isn't that traditional enough for you? Its ok, there are other " I put some duece rails under my A" threads around.

 

Pretty cool so far!!! Lots of history there, even the early racing stuff is in there. I wish all the training was this interesting/historical.- GM NERD

 

Yeah you're right. Service Advisor certification is a great fit here. Let's have a discussion on the new Corvette too. Its got the Chevy history behind it so it must be traditional too. Can you direct me to those A on Deuce rail posts. Can't have too many of those.

Yea I understand that. Back in the late 80's I worked 10 hrs a day 5 days a week then 8hrs a day on Sat and Sun for 3 months with only 1 day off. So yes money and hardly any time to spend it. But I still managed to get out on Fri and Sat nights though. A couple of those week-end nights I only got an hour of sleep. I was single at the time. LOL

 

Ok, just so you know there is a lot of cool GM history.. hell the Don ""the snake prudhomme car is in it. So So there is a lot of GM history that applies to the hamb.
