  1. Thanks B4C!! Skeeter wants to talk to you about the "other" car.

Me too! I think the ElectraLark will fill the small hole where the Plymouth used to be. Thanks Brother!

You need to swing down more often. Love to have you around.

  2. Holy Fuck!! That was, seriously, the absolute best time I have ever had in that car. We never stopped laughing. Funny thing is, it took about 8 miles for all the spark plugs to clear out!!!!

    Brrraaaappppp, Brraapppppp, raaapp, raaapp, raaapp.....

Hoping to pick up the Paxton and carb tomorrow.

So I spent an hour and a half speaking with John Erb. Wow! What a cool guy.

I plan to install it on the engine first then send it off to him after I know everything will line up and work.

    Baby steps....

  9. I'm now trying to source an MY6 also known as a GM pattern 833. I have a Mopar A8333 but it would require a bit of work. I may try it though.

  10. So this week I have set aside time to spend dedicated to this. First I will complete the steering then move on to disassembly and painting. Then focus on radiator mounting.

    Pics will follow my progress.

I've got a friend who is just eaten up with '54 Buicks... He's got a bunch of cool parts... complete stick trans set-ups, Ansen and Dragfast shifters, an Edmunds intake (the first for the Nailheads), and a complete McCollouch set-up, including the tensioner mount/thermostat housing assembly that was cast as one piece, the cast aluminum hat to go on top of the stock carb, and a mint vacuum gauge and mount for the dash.

he's thinking about getting a second carb hat and running the Edmunds under them.

  14. So Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty productive.

First, I had to get reaquainted with the fabrication I did years ago. Then, I tore apart the frontend so that I could install the chrome batwings and hairpins. It came apart so easy.

I then slid the axle, spring and hairpins back under the car. I tried to relocate the axle further forward but it didn't look right without altering the rear axle location. So I decided on 2 1/2" more than where I had it placed before which was 2" from the original axle centerline. Now I'm 4 1/2" from center.

I finished the hairpin frame mounts. Pretty stout.

    Installed.

Just a front shot. I may lower it a bit.

Here's a few pics of where the steering box will be.

I also installed the shocks. I think they'll work out well. I didn't get any pics of them. I'll get some tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be fully mounting the steering box. After that the car will be a complete roller. I'll need to figure out all the bolts I'll need to completely bolt in all the parts of the build that I have just "dowel pinned" in.

Following the steering box install, I will be working out the radiator location and figuring out the Paxton location and fabricate the mounts needed. The Headers will be one of the tougher obstacles to hurdle.

    More details tomorrow.

Hopefully you are going to add some reinforcement to that hairpin cross member. You know you have a nailhead sitting on top of that, right?

I thought that crossmemember looked great. It's not supporting any weight, it's just locating the front axle fore/aft... It could have a 4 cylinder or a GMC V12, and it wouldn't matter.
