    Another update on my 48.
What should have taken a month to do has taken just two weekends with alot of help from my buddies. It is in the paint booth with the black and orange color on it. I will start on the flames and the sign this weekend. Should have it cleared in this weekend.
Rusty, The car in the background is my friends 51 Plymouth coupe. Pretty nice car with a 350-350 combo in it. Runs and drives real nice.

57 sure has a look all of there own don't they !

  11. I've had mine for 21 years, since I was 13 years old. Fell in love with the body style immediately, one of the best looking trucks built in my opinion, I may be biased though!:D

I agree, a lot of people say they are ugly, I don't see it! to me a 3100 or f100 are...though i wouldn't go as far as saying they are ugly, they just cant compare to the looks of a 57 D100 IMO.......though I wish they did not put that bar above the cross grill I dont think it looks right thats why a lot of them I see they have been taken off and I left mine off.

You guys would not own 57's by any chance

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ;)

  14. I left that bar off as well...I need to find the vertical pieces for the cross, mine were gone when I got it. I've only seen a handful of 57's in person, they are not that common, that's why I like them

yeah I managed to get the grill off a guy on craigslist for $40 here in PHX, I asked him why he was getting rid of it and he said he didn't like the way it looked and had built the truck to the point of almost completed and just wanted to run it open mouthed (looked stupid to me) he had done all kinds of stupid 80's looking street rod things to it, but his loss is my gain.

Those style of ram heads were used around 54-57on the Dodge trucks, so that would be my guess.

  25. I really hate to bump this up and ask for a value but I have the opportunity to save this truck from the scrapper, I just plan on using it for parts. Anyone have any idea what the value of this thing is? It has a poly that supposedly turns over but its REAL rough...

    Thanks in advanced!

here in Az going off of what i see them go for and what they accually get bought for would guess in the neighborhood of $800-$1500 assuming its non running, rusted out floors, pretty much in rough shape.

Mine was worse than that, but the 259 V-8 was running with a new timing chain. The owner also had a huge stash of parts to go on it. He wanted what he had invested, $1800. I gave him $1500 and a week-end of my time for a bathroom remodel. If it's not running, I would start at $600 and go from there. It's really a subjective thing...how bad do you want it and how bad do they want to get rid of it. Mine had both door bottoms rusted completely out, can't find any doors in this area....

Mike, brush the snow off that windshield and be sure it is still good. those windshields only fit 54 and early 55 and are near impossible to find. If the windshield is unusable, 10 years ago replacements were over $500 when most glass could have been bought for $200. Gene

Yep...mine is "delaminating" around the edges and I have about 1 - 2 inches of cloudiness at the edges. I'm having difficulty finding a replacement and when I do it will probably be well over $400. The windshield alone would be worth buying the truck, much less all of the other parts.
