aussie63 you would be doing yourself a big favour by using the search function on this forum, it will save you time and grief, having said that, there are plenty of posts on the Mercruiser 3.7 Seeing that I am such a good bloke, you may want to check this link. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=256713&highlight=mercruiser
Some refer it as the Merc 224. Marine 3.7. Some even refer them to their American Horse Power rating such as the 170, 180, or 190. These were the horse power variants. Around the marine shops I heard them called " The BIG four ". I hope this helps. Not clear on your question. Good day!

Has Australia discovered the punctuation mark? I have some extras that I could send over if there is a shortage.
Actually, most of our, major, comedian production has moved off shore, China mostly, though there is still a cottage industry here, but it is struggling.
I'm just funnin' ya, Crocodile Dundee. Don't get yer knickers in a knot. Seriously though, you may want to consider sentence structure and a dot here and there. It does make deciphering your posts a bit easier

Generally just referred to as 3.7 Mercruiser. As mentioned above, some refer to them by horsepower rating, but that changed over the years, and could be confused with the Chevy II based 3.0 Mercruiser 4 banger ( 140 hp ), or the chevy straight 6 version of the Mercruiser ( 150hp, 165 hp ). Lots of info on the engine available here. Mark
