I love the dash work! I think you may have made a good trade, but I'm not a fan of the car over all just not my style but if your happy thats all that matters.

I think it is cool, and Larry is definitely into his own style....which is why we drive modified cars to begin with. The quality of his work is good, Significantly better than any "rat rod", and from what I have heard, most of his cars are a blast to drive. Hopefully your wife will come around and enjoy it with you.

  8. Oh, put another log on the fire. Cook me up some bacon and some beans, go out to the car and change the tire, wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans. You can fill my pipe and then go fetch my slippers, and boil me up another pot of tea, then put anohter log on the fire babe and sit down and tell me why you're leavin' me. (Willy Nelson)

A trade is a trade I guess, sounds like alomost everyone is happy. At least for the time being.

Looks cool. Don't worry about the ney-sayers, you made the call, you are happy and thats all that matters. I like the look of both cars, by the way.

As far as the wife, she will get over it, if not, you just leave her home when you are driving it!

    enjoy!

car appears to be a roadster with some kind of removable top, but I'm wondering exactly what makes your new car 'traditional' in the sense of the focus and zeitgeist of this particular forum (the HAMB)? I've been on the planet for 68 years and on top of and under hot rods for 54 years. I was hot-rodding very hard in the 50s and 60s and can tell you that your underslung look was not in vogue at all during that time period (or before, if historical periodicals can be trusted). I see that a few on here think that's 'quite the look' and claim it's the NEW hot rod trend. Fine....ask Ryan how to start your own forum for that style. Quit trying to shove it down my throat. I'm sure Crazy Larry is quite a craftsman, but the build style of cars from 'wayback when to 1964' is what is done in these here parts. I'm happy if you're happy, and how your wife feels should be nobody's concern but your own. That being said, trumpeting your "not traditional" car here is largely inappropriate. Some of you people need to quit trying to force this forum onto a different track.

  14. Bopper what you got is a tub with a roadster top. A tub can be a touring car or a sedan with the roof removed. I guess it can be called a roadster because it does not have side glass but it is not a model A roadster.

In some circles it would be called a custom, in others it would be called a '60s show rod. But the wheels are not what you would have seen at a show at least not on a winning car.

I guess I could pic it apart and tell you everything that does not make it a roadster or even pic it apart for what it is that makes it not right but what would be the point. It is your car you like it and maybe with time the missus will grow to accept it.

Reminds me of an German Shepard that I brought home once. I was living with this old hide and she did not like dogs. Well it was my house and I could have a dog if I wanted to. The dog grew up and was a well mannered animal. Eventually she would let the dog out to do his duty and even feed the dog. I am not sure she ever liked the dog but with time she grew to accept it.

As many have said, it is not my style but enjoy it, that is key. If you are happy THAT is what matters.

Whether the style was in vogue or not I dont see hot rodding as confirming to a precise look/style.... this creation below hails from the 50s.... So, whilst this might not be seen as "traditional" I am sure there were cars from that era that looked equally radical.

Removing the roof from a two door sedan, does not a roadster make.

I've seen the car many times, he is a regular at some of the shows in the area. It looks well built, and is definetly unique.

Just don't call it a roadster.
