I can locate power window conversion kits all day long...anyone make a similar kit but with cranks instead of motors? My chopped coupe is small enough that I really don't need powered windows.

Really don't want to spend half a day in a wrecking yard looking for something that might work...just trying to determine if an aftermarket setup is avaialble.

I bought some reproduction ones for my 34 through Dick Spadaro's supply in NY. I haven't put them in yet, but they seem to fit up and work just like originals.

Get one from the scrap yard, maybe a low spec toyota or something. Adapt it to what you need (it's called hot rodding but don't tell anyone, we don't want it catching on).

Any reason to not use the original ones?

  7. I cut the inner metal door panels out of an old Toyota and welded in place on my 31 Pontiac. The regulators came along for the ride. Pretty simple and works great!

Back door mechanism out of a Jeep Cherokee (the square ones).

In my case I had to relocate the crank part of the mechanism. Easily done by drilling out the spot welds and re-welding where desired. The spline is the same as pre 48 GM.

Fits nice in a 30 Model A Ford coupe. Know I could have bought repros cheap, but wanted something that wouldn't vibrate down.

You need one with a straight track as it's impossible to flatten the curved ones so look for flat glass cars. I grabbed powered curved ones out of my neighbor's car before it was scrapped but could not use.

Check this place out; it parts for stepvans but I've found several cool universal parts here that can be adapted to hot rod use. They have a neat little heater box that measures 7"x7" with the core and fan that I always thought would make a good heater for a street rod.

  12. Great idea on the back door of a Cherokee or any flat glass crank window car. I needed this info for my 5-window that will need alot of work w/window cranks being one of them ....
