Pretty good guess. What is strange (to me) is someone, I assume the art dept., rotated the 66 clockwise about 10 degrees. The numbers do not align straight across the bottom. It's as if the numbers are sliding off the sign. Have not been able to find anything on this. Phillips eventually aligned the 66 "properly" during (perhaps) the 2nd update.

The Cliff House is located at lands end in San Francisco. To my knowledge the photos of the construction and then fire are the first building to be there. It was rebuilt then burned again. The other photo is of the last and current building on that site. The Sutro Baths are just up the hill (around a curve) and was built in the 30's... burned in '68 as I recall. Its an interesting place to visit if your doing the tourist bit, the pools are still there. Down the hill from there was Playland at the Beach, torn down in the late 70's for condos.

Our good friend bought one of those condos when they were new and still lives there. Every time we visit we go to the Cliff House. Fun place with decent food.

I'm afraid you're mistaken. I believe that you're thinking about Chuck Norris, not Chuck Connors.

I'm glad that they saved it. I t is a cultural icon, after all. Now, if they could make their food taste as good as it did when I was a kid, before the health Nazis got them to make their food "healthier". :(
Oh well, Wishful thinking, I suppose.

Those "golden Arches" were installed during renovations in the existing building because it was found to be structurally unstable. The yellow lighting was added as an attempt to dress up the otherwise drab steel I beams of course they became Icons of the chain when it started,

That Buick boat in pictures 63394 and 63395 is just too cool. Is there any other story on this?

    Thanks,
    Dave.
