Hey guys, nube here. I'm building a non budget, high end, 35 Ford coupe and am in need of a reputable paint shop. I have yet to find a paint shop worth using twice. I'm looking for a shop that has many years experience and specializes in early American stuff. I'd like to keep it local (Fresno to Bakersfield Ca), or at least in central to southern California. Thanks for any input!

    Take your time.

Spend some time at the shop you are thinking of using.
    Do some surprise stop ins.

You might need one shop to do the ***emble dis***emble...
    Another to do the paint.

A lot of times the shop that does the best paint, is not the best at ***emble and dissasemble, fitment, etc.... And metalwork.

What some people feel is high end paint can vary greatly.

    Good luck!

It is was me and I had unlimited funds I would pick: http://vintagecolorstudio.com/ Darryl Hollenbeck is laying down some of the best paint in the country. Too bad is web site is not up and running.

I don't know were you are in relation to Roy Brizio's shop but from the photos I have seen of the John Mumford GNRS winner I think he could give you what you are looking for. HRP

Since someone already mentioned Winfield, I'll step up and cast a vote for Oz Welch, one of my favorite builders.
He's here on the HAMB and located in Norcal. His work is absolutely first rate!

Gene left Modesto, in about 1970.

He is now in Mojave, CA.

It's more cost effective in kansas, and I can still use the good paints not over ruled by epa. would love a shot at this work. our hourly rates are about half of what it is in cali, and its a beautifull drive...give a hard working guy a chance.

Hollenbeck painted it for him if I'm not mistaken.

Calif. is home to quite a few world cl*** painters. Picking which one would be the hard part, not finding one.

Art Himsl is another to mention.

That is where we send out "high-end" customers. Darryl is top-notch.

If there is any State where you should not have a problem finding one of the best painters in the world, it should be California. So many famous guys out there. The waiting list might be a little long, but worth the wait, I would imagine.

Is it just me or does anyone else wonder about the OP when he comes on here and posts something like this? Where are these people coming from?

I do recommend Brizio's Shop for their paint work. The prep is pain staking but every detail is addressed. The out come is a real eye catchers too.

  26. Agree ... a guy has all the money in the world and resorts to a free internet site to get critical information " Havent found a painter yet that I would use twice." ...probably never will either.
