Hi guys, I have always have loved the look of the old hot rod engines with multiple carb set ups, especially the very early home made ones. I did a thread search, and could not find a comprehensive picture thread showing these. Dual quads are cool, and my favorite look is multi-stack injection, but I especially want to see multiple single and two barrel carbs that look Hamb appropriate. I have seen a lot on here, mostly 97s and frog mouth scoops seeming to be the most popular. What else looks right? Any photos that show linkage and fuel line details would be awesome. I am putting a '68 472 Cad engine into my 53 dually truck. For the fun of it, I want to build my own multi carb intake to give it a vintage hotrod look. So if you have them, please post the coolest looking vintage intake pictures. Thanks!
My 62 Chevy ,short step....235 warmed up with twins ,exhaust and cam... sorry for the picture quality Ray
Hi Ray, are you using a Fenton intake? Do you have a picture of the other side?296 v8 are you a hoarder? Looks like a cool stash. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Thought I would post a couple pics I stole from different threads. These are cool, and I know lots of you guys have more. Please put them up. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
That setup on the blower is cool. Is that something you fabricated? Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Not exactly vintage but mos def home built. 4 twos built at home with my mill and lathe. I started with a tbi intake and milled it down to the top of the bottom runners. Intake Free, Carbs Free, Milling Labor Free, needing 120$ worth of rebuild kits, and 120$ worth of scoops, Priceless.
What I currently have on my car. It's on loan from my buddy. We rebuilt the carbs and replaced on metering block. Runs ok still needs some tuning. Looks bitchin with the linkage moving around going down the road.
Top fuel, have you run that 4x2 setup yet? Did you take any pictures of how you blended the carb mounting plates into the intake runners? 1952henry, I never saw a twin manifold quite that tall before. Can't really see, but I assume flathead? Who made it? Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I have not run it yet, still collecting carb parts. trying to get enough 2gc cores to get similar parts, then I have to buy or make jets that match. The intake was a dual plane and I milled the top plane off, so all 8 ports are connected thru the lower runners. It won't be the same as a ManAFre set up, but it should be easier to tune with the runners blended. Hopefully easier to jet. Overall the jetting demands on each carb should be less being it's not IR runners. I don't know if I have any pictures of the manifold without the carbs, or I can take them off to show you. I can tell you I left the center port divider and ground it to a soft radius between the siamesed intake ports.
I assume the linkage will run all four the same, will you be using 4 chokes as well? The vacuum signal should be pretty even with the way you mounted them. I am really interested to hear how well this works. Thanks! Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I consider this vintage, it hit the market in 60 not long after the Falcons hit showrooms. Holman Moody built 1 or 2 of the Tri-power six cars called the Falcon power pack as a promotion in 60 or 61.
Is that Thickstun run well at lower rpm, or is more of a wot design? Does any one run one on the street?
My old 6x2 Edelbrock log manifold which I just sold; and the one I am now using, a 6x2 Edelbrock crossram manifold, can't wait to hook it up.
