  1. its too bad they dont build builings like this any more..now all just slab sidings...This is beautiful

    There is debate among automobile fans about the very first car ever made. Railfans, however, agree that this was the first diesel locomotive built. This builder photo, originally from GE, shows the date of October 15, 1918. Jay Street Connecting was a New York harbor terminal railroad that went bankrupt in the 50's. The locomotive didn't last that long though.

    The historic occasion is the movement of U. S. Army mortuary caskets in 1947 from Europe to various cemeteries in the U. S.
