The next door neighbor girl had a bunch of high school boys decided to give her the honer of silly stringing her house last night . Just my luck these stupid kids couldn't figure out that it was the wrong house and toilet paper and whip cream my shoebox. I went out to get the Sunday newspaper and discover my wonder surprise on my black primer job. The car need to be resprayed I tried washing it out but the stains remained .
My initial reaction is to say file charges, but honestly, high schoolers are dumb. Well, a majority of them are anyway. See if you can make them come help you.
That's a shame ... Kids prob didn't realize what it would do. But even better , I bet they don't care.. Sorry to hear that man
So, you know who did it. My question would be what advise can you give the kids AND their parents, when they start pricing your repaint.
I'm thinking of Turning in a claim to the insurance co. There is a lot of labor to strip it down to repainted it the right way.
Things happen. I could let their parents know hat the cost of materials are and labor are before turning it in to the insurance co.
If it makes you feel any better, I have a similar story: My best friend in high school bought a 2 year old 78 mustang fastback, spent some money on it, and it was very cool (for that gen mustang, anyway). One day, he was over at my house and we went out someplace in my car for some reason. This is in the summer. While we were gone, the 12 year old kid from across the alley thought it would be a good idea to wash the car for us before we got back. So he brought out a bucket, car wash, the hose, etc. and proceeded to wash the entire car in the alley...... ......with S.O.S. pads. Top to bottom. Everywhere. True story. No lie. No exaggeration.
Call the police, report the incident and file a claim,,have a talk with the neighbors,,the girl will have a good idea who the perpetrators are. They damaged your property. HRP
Yeah , these little bastards are from come from well to do families. They show up in high end car and lifted trucks ... I could have a little fun with my work truck and chains. But then I would bring myself down to there level.
I filed a report with the police department and after three hours and asshole cop . all I was told was to contact my insurance co .
When I was young I was best man at a friends wedding I let them borrow my Cream colored 65 Impala The decorating party used black shoe polish on it it could not even buff it out. The car lived the rest of the time I owned it with about 10 cans of grey Krylon primer on it. PS it was still in primer when they got Divorced
I'm going to drive it to a paint shop tomorrow and get a written estimate and hand them out to the girls parents to give to the other responsible parties parents .
I had a not so similar thing happen. Bunch of stuff stolen from next to my storage shed. I called cops and they said file with my insurance co. Well they caught the guy and he had to pay the insurance co. back plus the deductible. And serve 6 months for a 5th time repeat offender. My oppinion is file with insurance and then go and find out who did it. call the police and get them to confess. Hate to see you spend all that hard earned money and let those idiots get away with it. Surely they didnt think the shoebox was hers!? just my opinion
Sorry to hear that bro. Yea go after them for the repairs I'm pretty sure they have money and someone has to be responsible for ignorant kids.
Sorry to hear this, dude. What's in the silly string/whipped cream shit that causes the permanent stains?
They should pay for the damages no matter what, they did it. Sorry wouldn't work for me. Seems that the police officer should be doing the talking to the involved parties, not you. Had similar incident happen to my son's truck, guess who paid......they did.
make them block sand it and paint it again, i cant tell you how many kids in my auto body class hate block sanding. then painting will be the fun part. maybe get them into it
That's vandalism pure and simple. The kids, and their parents are responsible. Push the issue and make them pay. If you did that to their parent's car, I'm sure they would be coming after you.
I'm not going to let them get away with it. I think the sun is what stained the string and whip cream in the primer
Ya thats a bummer. They should definately pay for the work needed for repair. I'm a bit surprised the cop didn't seem more willing to help because a tresspass and vandalizm occured. I think your doing things right by having some documentation. good luck
Really, man? Why dont you just see if you are toughter than their fathers? Ya, it sucks, get over it,and keep an eye on your car from now on...
