Hey, I've been reading as much as possible on here for almost a year now.
Thought it was time I gave something back. Saw someones question I thought I could help with, so I guess it was time to join up and post.
Just kind of getting into this hobby. Damn my friends, I blame them lol. Looks like its going to be a lifelong addiction. Just what I need another expensive hobby.

I'm now the proud owner of a '63 Lincoln Continental. Its going to be a slow restoration, but I'm excited and hope to learn something on the way.

Welcome. How good or bad is the car? These slabsides can get expensive quickly...!

First tip: if you're unsure whether the timing set has been replaced, replace it with a set from Cloyes. The original cam gear is nylon/aluminium... it deteriorates causing the teeth to break off and clog the oil pick-up.

The car is in pretty good shape, they're getting hard to find around here.
Its probably 95% complete, and about 90% functional, but she runs and drives.
I'm aware of the timing gear issue, I have not checked it yet, I'm fairly sure it hasn't been replaced,
but I just changed the oil pan gasket and there weren't any gear teeth in there, so maybe.

I finally got a couple pictures up, I'll try to add more in the next couple days.

The Cadillac is actually my buddy's. It is pretty sweet, I'm not sure if he's a member here or not.

Drew, don't underestimate the evilness of the OG timing set.

Here's what happened to a fellow Dutch slabside owner when he was test driving his recently acquired '64. He thought it would be okay. Not so much.
