1967, Mom's 64 Comet 404, 260 3 on the tree. Failed TWICE! Never drove a car before, always riding my Yamaha 80. I don't think that Yamaha would be as much fun now as it was then.

1962 Ford Galaxie 500 4dr HT. Parent's car. Should have done it in my 1956 Chevy 150 hotrod. Didn't think the DPS guy would appreciate the straight axle and 265 with fenderwell headers. Oh yah and there was that issue of only one seat.

51 Ford tudor in 1963]. Dad took the money in my bank account [mowing lawns and working in a grocery store] and bought it so I couldn't buy a hotrod. Also, so I would not drive his car, he taught me to drive in the 51] I had drug him all over town looking at any 29-40 ford I could find, mostly pos's. It was a low milage flathead six, and I did not like it [nor keep it long]. Looking back I was stupid to not appreciate it and modify it, but I didn't. Sold it, bought a 40 tudor, he kicked me out of the house for awhile [till Mom hounded him into letting me come back home]. Been afflicted every since.

I drove my own '48 Fleetline to the DMV on my learner's permit on my 16th birthdy (my grandmother went with me). I bought the car (with my own hard-earned money) when I was 15 and put dual exhaust on it, lowered it, nosed, decked and had it in black primer before I could drive it by myself. That wan't unusual in the 50's, most of my friends had their own cars too. I never heard of parent's buying their kids a car until sometime later.

The '56 210 was my only means of transportation in 1961 and I taught my new bride how to drive, park, all that stuff in it. It had a V8 and stick shift. Nearly ended the marriage right there!!!

(We just celebrated out 53rd anniversary this week so all is good)

The pictures were taken at the same house - I bought my parent's house when they moved out.

    My parents 62 Chevy Biscayne..

I even remember sneeking it out for a drive one night when I was 15! I was lucky I didn't kill myself with bad rain and hard to see roadway. Nope. I didn't get caught. :)

I used my folks 1952 Desoto 4 dr sedan. It had that awful fluid drive transmission. I Couldn't race anyone in that thing and win. I just removed a fluid drive off a 1955 New Yorker hemi. What a boat anchor. I plan on taking it to the wrecking yard this week to get rid of it.
