HEDLEY was a "badguy" character in Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles Movie and a play on Hedy's name.

    The actress' name is Hedy.

  12. Yah, I know it's Hedy, but whenever I see her I can't help but think of the Blazing Saddles skit too.

Next time I do something like that I'll post the [IMG] smilie.

Here's the video version of the sarcasm smilie by Foghorn Leghorn.

Curtis Street and 16th in Denver CO. Sort of sad that none of these buildings survived.

Ever notice how there are no potholes in any of these old city photos?

Wow! Great stuff! If you have any
more vintage Cuban stuff like this,
    please post it! I'm particularly
interested in any '40's or '50's vintage
pics of Packards in Cuba - like that
Packard road race car pictured in that
    Goodyear ad. Way cool stuff!

This is a still from the 1957 movie about US Naval aviator Frank 'Spig' Wead called The Wings of Eagles. The movie was on TV a couple of weeks ago and this photo shows The Duke and Maureen O'Hara driving together early in the movie.

Heya, John! I knew you knew, bro. Anybody not familiar with the Mel Brooks/Harvey Korman schtick probably lived under a rock, right? :D

TRUE, Hedy was very smart. ;) Smart enough to sue over misuse of her name. Mel Brooks settled out of court to smooth her feathers. But, I thought it just underscored what a funny bit it was, in and otherwise hysterical movie. :D LOL. ("Mongo not know. Mongo just PAWN in game of life!")

Hedy was also an INVENTOR! Worth a read to look up her brief bio on Wikipedia!

AND WAS SHE ONE GORGEOUS WOMAN!

The Franklins above were photographed at the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum. The Museum still has the cars in their collection (among many others) but the cars are currently in storage and not on public display.

    "House on Haunted Hill," 1958

Anybody who loves old movies has probably heard of the master poster artist,
Reynold Brown. His often eye-popping, tirelessly illustrated poster art undoubt-
edly made box-office successes of many a doggy movie ("The Atomic Submarine"
comes to mind!:p), as well as enhancing success of many major blockbusters! You
can see several of his more famous posters by using the thread SEACRH function
at the top of the page. But some may not be aware of the commercial-art endea-
vors that preceeded his success in the film industry. Below, thanks to the Ameri-
can Art Archives, are just a couple of examples.:)

Reynold Brown painted commercially from the '40s until the mid-'60s,
turning to BEAUTIFUL portrait work in semi-retirement. Aided by his
wife;), he continued painting landscapes after a severe stroke disabled
his left side in 1976. Reynold Brown passed on in 1991, but he left a
trove of beautiful work that reflected life in several decades. Would
that any of us can leave such a positive mark with our lives as did
Brown! Thankfully, his life and work are well represented in books
and numerous sites and references on the internet. You can spend
many enjoyable hours looking into this fascinating illustrator's life.
