Andy, a few questions for you... 1. Are you going to set the floor down at the rear so you don't get a nose bleed sitting in it ? 2. Is this your guitar quality build ? 3. Will it be ready for the basement next month ? 4. You are coming one way or the other aren't you ? Ron p.s. looking great, man !!!
Thanks guys! Hi Ron, 1. The entire floor will be level at the bottom of the frame from the firewall to just behind the seatpan where it will connect to another panel that will separate the trunk from the cabin. The trans/torque tube will actually be IN the passenger compartment and will be sealed off via boots similar to something found on a shifter... if that makes sense. Test fitting my lanky frame proved to be successful with a seating position similar to a lakes racer hunkered down behind the dash. 2. Guitars are work, hot rods are fun! but, yes. 3. No, I don't have the time nor the cash to make that happen. 4. Yes, I'll be there! See ya soon!
I think I've figured out how Andy builds these things so fast. He sneaks off and builds the car without anyone knowing it, and then AFTER it's finished he starts a build thread, posting update pics rapidly. Meanwhile, the finished car is sitting there waiting. He already finished this roadster, before he sold the coupe Seriously man, this thing is looking awesome. I like your style, and I'll see you in the basement next month.
Awesome build. I look forward to seeing how you do the floors, as I am 6'3 and would love a t roadster one day
Awesome, watching this for sure. Loved seeing the 34 at bonneville, too. Hopefully have time to meet you this year. I'll be curious to see how many miles you can do before you cramp up, haha. Put a small gas tank in it so you can stop more often.
PS, with your skills, scrap that center bearing and build your own shaft: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8531935&postcount=134
thanks again boys, Metal Man, I WISH this thing was already secretly done, I'd have been doing snow donuts all week! Yea rodster, sender for each side. Hi I'm gonna bore out the axle and run ford stuff, easier to find and cheaper to rebuild. And then I don't have to get my tires remounted either. Right now the ford spindles are just sloppily mounted with the smaller diameter mopar kingpins.
I borrowed my pal's 7* taper reamer and bottom-reamed the deuce spindles for a tie rod. Makes it a lot easier to push this thing around! I also cut all the toe board***** and front subrails out of the way to start making my cowl hoops to mount the steering box and brake pedal. I just centered and tacked the cowl to the frame to keep it in place for the moment. Also trimmed the lower firewall off, I'm going to make it kick out the whole way down like it does at the top. And I started mocking up the shocks, but decided I don't care for this arrangement... They will be cantilevered and mounted horizontally inside the frame and out of sight.
Cantilevered shocks and a four bar?!? Andy's building a Boydster! The gold chains and pinky rings are next. Love it Andy. Keep us posted on the progress. .
53-56 F100 Gemmer box cowl steering setup tacked in place... I'll elaborate with better pics when it comes back apart for finish welding.
Engine block checked out perfect! It's now bored .060 over, crank's reground, new cam bearings going in, guess my guy is having some trouble getting round cam bearings from a certain supplier... 3 different sets and all of them are a bit egg shaped, cam won't fit once their installed... We shall see how that plays out, he's waiting for a response now. Gonna go with a 1007b grind cam from Pete1...
Ha! I wish... Progress has...... slowed.... to... a.. crawl. I wish I didn't have to make a living! I did manage to find a few spare minutes to knock 215 holes in the deck... Probably had more than a few T restorers rolling over in their graves. This was a NICE decklid! I also cut the inner structure out and replaced it with a thin x brace. Will need all the airflow I can get with the radiator back there. The lower panel will also get ventilated similarly. And I started knocking out a floorpan and installing it. Also whittled down a trashed, torched up set of '40 pedals and made it into a hanging brake****y........ It will mount to a bracket on the front hoop behind the steering box with a '40 Ford MC on the firewall. Clutch pedal will be mounted RIGHT to the clutch crossshaft. No linkage! gettin there... It also steers! but my camera*****ped out before I got pics of that... coming soon.
Looking so bad**** buddy! Can't wait to see it on the beach. Lets catch up soon. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
