Wonder what the response would have been if the op had asked "how much would you guys sell this for? "

You brought up a good point. Most people are tightwads when it comes to buying but when it's time to sell, it's a whole different story. Suddenly that 1000 dollar object is now worth 10,000.

either people here don't know what they are talking about or prices in the Bay Area are double what they are in other parts of the country.

I sold an AD truck like that a few years back. the motor ran but had a dead cylinder. the brakes went all the way to the floor. good seat and good tires. crummy paint over bad bodywork. title in someone elses name, sold it for $2,000.00 to the first guy who came and looked. he made an offer and I just told him no, I'll just sell it to the next guy who comes to look. I sold it cheap @$2,000.00 because i got it cheap in a trade.

2 g's will usually get you a clapped out field truck around here.

Dang, don't know where you guys are finding running, driving descent start trucks for $1200 but definitely not in Fla. Just a junk body and frame,no engine, tranny interior and looking like it has been in Michigan all its life brings $2000-$2500 here.

And if the fast and loud guys weren't making money they wouldn't be a successful buisness. At least they keep it real and lose money like normal people do sometimes. Really the most honest show on tv right now I think. Just sayin....

Nope. It is time-compressed. The advertising between show segments makes money, that is why the show is still on the air. Thst is what funds the show. Television is a business whose success depends on keeping your eyes on the screen, in the hopes that you will buy the featured products. There is nothing honest about it. The actual success of the business operation is largely irrelevant, from a financial standpoint, so long as people are buying what is advertised.

The hood and fender fit is worth 1500.00. Easy 3gs in the bay area.

"Rust in the usual places....." I believe that just about every square inch of sheetmetal for these trucks is available, including a complete cab, if you want. I'd begin at $1,500 and bargain from there. HAPPY RODDIN' !!!

Nothing to add on price (since I am on the opposite side of the world), but around here I generally take off $$ (or at the very least don't consider) all the 'work already done' like the c-notch, disc conversion etc, since 9 times out of 10 the work is done so crap that it would need a do-over.....

And don't get me started on 'body-work done, ready for paint' - busy digging out 1/2" bondo all over a '65 Impala convertible right now.

? Do you ever see a running driving truck at a swapmeet for $2500 that isn`t sold. As far as that goes, Anything that runs and drives that is less than 4 grand at a swapmeet, usually every body and there brother is crawling all over them and cheecking them out.

I sold the ford version of "that truck" a year or two ago for $3250. I think the guys that bought it from me, cleaned up a few things and flipped it for $5500-ish.
