You won't have any problem, things got out of hand a few years back (issues with local morons NOT car show folks) there is still a big police presence but its not crazy.

I have gone every year since it started and always have a blast

I have been going for several years for a good time, without ANY as you say COPS harassment. Did you ever think it might be you that is causing the problems of which you speak.

It is a great show, and the promoters improve it every year.

  3. NO!

I was standing at the curb when a trucker driving a single axle tanker blew his horn to the crowd. The guy was just getting into the moment. Cops pulled him over, kept him sitting there for 45 minutes and gave him a bunch of tickets.

That is just 1 of several cases I and everyone there seen in about an hour and a half. What would you call it?

The Lake George show got like that about ten years ago, because a couple of guys decided to succumb to the crowd and pull burn outs. The next year there was three troopers on every corner pulling people out of cars for the slightest reason,my wife was sitting on the curb watching the cars go by and a trooper told her to get her ass off the curb or she was going to jail thankfully I wasn't there or I would have been in jail. Some guy had a monster truck with a mural of his Bronco crushing a cop car and then he decided to spin his tires. You had to see them rip him out of that truck left the truck in the road and locked him up.The guys that put on the show went to the chamber of Commerce told them they wouldn't be back next year, and they got it straightened out to the point where last year there was minimal police presence. The only problem was some guys started to take advantage so we will see what this year brings.

    Just Go !
You'll figure it out when you get there.
My only advice is find a place to stay NOW !!!
This show gets bigger every year and rooms are getting scarce.

Lake George. Problems have always been non-show People & EveryDay Cars, overgrown Trucks, Muterbikes, and the Honyocks that come with them. At 5;00 on Fri and Sat when show people start leaving for Grub, the IDIOTS come into town. Take over the Sidewalks, and eventually stand in the driving Lanes during the 7:00 - 10:00 Cruising for Show Cars only.
I live right next store, and now drive 3 plus hours to Orange Drags & Ti-Rods. Its easier on us.

    honyock definition
someone, usually a male, who acts like a peasant; a crude or unsophisticated person; a rustic oaf.

  8. I really love going there, there is just SO MUCH to look at its impossible not to like something. I have been going for the last 3 years, I would love to make the trek in my Dodge but I really don't know if it will be street legal by then. If it isn't you bet I'll be there Friday in my daily driver!

I've been to every Lake George show and wouldn't miss it but i kmow what you mean.First off they allow to new a vehicle in the show, for a while there there was some good racing going on on the Northway. They shouldn't allow anything newer than I'll even go to 70 on the streets (parking ) in the vikkage while the show is going on.Guys are parking flatbeds trailers etc and setting up chairs on them.

Yea and not one of them has their own car,I was running the Falcon through and was getting the usual spin the tires, garbage and chicken this, and everyone of them was sitting on someones flatbed or trailer with nothing of their own.I have been going to Lake George every year for 41 years well before the show, and I love it. We bring about 45 to 60 friends and family up and stay up in Bolton on the lake and have just a good time hanging at the cabins as we do the show.I use to register for the show every year I stopped last year I would rather cruise during the day instead of having my car locked down inside.

So, It is what you saw not what you did, so therefore it did not cost you any money as you previously stated from the money grabbing cops to fill the the towns coffers. Quit shooting the show down from a CURB spectators point of view, go inside and see the real show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

Go every year, but its just down the street from me so its easy. I useually get there about 6 am and can find a parking spot just about anywhere you want. So much to see and do if you are with in a few hours drive I just can't think of any reason not to go. Every night the cars are cruse'n all over the city and towns great week end!
If you were to park at the old school spot there might be a good chance you could get picked for the Dirty Dozen by the looks of your avitar.

  17. CURBING CAR SHOW ANTICS; POLICE TO STEP UP PRESENCE TO KEEP LOCAL ROADS SAFE BEFORE, DURING SYRACUSE NATIONALS.(Local)

    <!-- AddThis Button BEGIN -->

    Byline: Kenn Peters Staff writer

Police officials say they will have a significant presence on local roads from Thursday to Sunday, before and during the three-day SyracuseNationals car show.
The action is in response to illegal drag racing and showboating last year by some custom-car drivers, officials said.

"Our goal isn't to write tickets but to make sure everyone has a good time and is safe," said Onondaga County Undersheriff Warren Darby.

Police will reduce traffic on Thompson Road from Erie Boulevard East in Syracuse to Carrier Circle in DeWitt to two lanes during the evenings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

7500 cars. It breaks down to 875 corvettes, 675 camaros, 652 mustangs, 375 chevelles (120 of these are red) and everything else.

All kidding aside, its a great show if you just generally love cars. if you are offended ny the occaisional 1980 caprice wagon, then dont go

You cant see it all in one day, and the cars shuffle around from day to day, so you may not see everything.

Large indoor and outdoor vendor area too.

    Worth every penny.

Syracuse offers something for everyone so you should not be disappointed. Be prepared for either heat or rain. Some years we have had both. Plenty of parking but the nice spots can sometimes be hard to find unless you are there early. Cruising happens on the grounds untill it gets crowded which is when there is very nice weather or on Saturday. Wish the flea market was a little better but have found a few good scores over the years. Camping is available and there are plenty of activities all day and into the evening on the fairground. Ranks up there with some of the other big national events. Been going every year and have always had a good time. Will be there again this year hanging with notaford1.
Hope you show up and have a good time.

This is the only show that I vend at that I am mad that I can not enjoy the show and walk around. This year they have added a building of vintage race cars. One of the best things to do at this show is saturday and friday around 4 or so stand over the overpass that leads to the parking lot and watch the cars leave the show.

I have a room with 2 beds at Super 8 for Syracuse. The guy who was going with me can't go,so if anyone needs a place to stay,I have an extra bed and can reserve a rollaway if 2 would need a place. It is a smoking room and I am old, smoke, drink beer, fart, and get grouchy. (Just so you know). It is for 3 nights (thur, fri,& sat). On the map it looks close to the host hotel.
If anyone is interested --PM Me--don't reply here.Of course the bill would be split accordingly
Please ---NO MAYBE'S only PM me if you are serious
    Thanks
    Gary
