Thanks for the offer Carl , I picked up a set of wilwood calipers for the funny car last summer , decided to use them on this car, I just need to buy the right hats and the mounts, so I'm good there , Mounted the Grill on the car the other day , the jury is still out on if I like it or not, but I think when this thing is all painted and lettered it will all fall together:confused:, Tim Jones

When I mounted the grill on the car I just used a L shaped alum bracket mostly to see how it looked , Because I didn't want to run over this if it vibrated loose, We made a little heavier duty one , plus got to practice my alum welding skills, I'm also not set on where the grill is going to sit, as in higher or lower, we made it so I can go either way with it,,, Tim Jones

Have you tried putting it between the tank and the engine? Maybe that would look goofy, not sure.

Thanks Buddy , It kinda grows on ya, ,Like your hood on the flatcad now:D, I'll mess with the height tues or wed, when I'm off , figured I'd have the guy lettering the car when it's painted put the sled dog on crutches that's on the logo on it , like the 60's and 70's fuel altereds did on the grills, Nanook, Rat Trap to name a couple, by the way your question about your port nozzels got me to thinking ,, so today I brought my blower manifold into work and build up some areas on the runners so I could tap them for port nozzels in the future if needed:eek:,,, Tim Jones

Didn't do to much over my weekend , got the grill where I want it, and cut out and installed a windshield on the body, still have to put some rubber or silicone cushion between the body and windshield to keep it from cracking,,,,, I HOPE:confused: Tim Jones

Man Rich you should know better than to put ideas in the head of a guy that has more Time on his hands than MONEY:eek:,,, I went out and looked at the grill to see what I thought, I like that idea! I'll just have to mock up some cardboard pieces till I figure what I like , Plus with the blazing speeds I plan on running:confused:, It will make it more aerodynamic:D,,,, Tim Jones

I'm not sure yet on the paint I'm thinking a pearl sunset orange , or a dark Candy apple red, I have a buddy that painted all my other race cars years ago going to paint it he painted mostly customs ,so i usally just tell him the base color and let him go nuts:D Tim Jones

Well Rich i didn't do it in Fiberglass, Weather is too up and down out here, So cince this whole car has been a learning exprience for me , so I did it in Alum, and because I don't have all the shaping tools I did it by cutting the pieces and bending them to fit then welding it all together ,(Garrett Day our welder at work) helped me tig it altogether, after that I got the grinder out to knock the welds down, just have to do the final finish Still, Tim Jones

Did the swirl finish on the side pieces for the grill tonite, also made a mounting plate for the chute , practiced the swirl finish on the chute plate first, Never did this before so I'm pretty happy with it:D Lucky for me doing this is almost idiot proof  ,,,Tim Jones

    That was good reading,
We built our flathead rail the same way, ourselves.
Made all the gearbox and stuff.made our own cylinder heads
Used a 39 ford rear for a while ,them switched to a strange 9in.
We use it once a month at the local strip and got third in the comp class last year from 45 ,even though we missed two meetings .
pics are the early eng with hillborn inj,and the blown eng before we made our heads.

Thanks Lawrie , Great looking car you have , post some more pics, I'm having more fun building this car than any other dragster I had when I was younger, lots of satisfaction making the parts for the car myself, Tim Jones
