Mike just order a axle and bring your springs down and we can reverse the eyes on them.

Unless something happens to it, it will never change! I sold it once and bought it back as soon as he put it up for sale. This is my favorite car of all. As for as color, I vote for black  but gold is nice too!

Cool project! As for inspiration, I've always had a sweet spot for this one:
    BIG RIC

Even though it's a completely different model, I had its style in my mind when I did my '46.

    Beautiful coupe

  7. Love 40's and I love 60's build styles. There are a lot of ways to build a 60's style car.

Little more progress so far, frame is back from the blaster. Got the Chassis Engineering Parallel rear spring & suspension kit installed. I decided to weld them on rather than bolt on. I also used a set of their rear boxing plates too. I have the transmission center X member kit also installed. Removing those rivets and the factory center piece was no fun at all. Cut, drill, heat, then airchisel the remaining rivet out. Then repeat about 20 more times! The CE stuff is awesome! Everything fits as it was supposed to and is all high quality stuff. I had to cut out and replace one small section of the chassis right where one of the body mounts is located CE also has the body mount to replace it with too.

    A little more progress:
I got the Chassis Engineering SBC motor mounts and the front shock brackets on. These are Bolt-on and only required locating and drilling the holes.
I also notched both sides of the stock crossmember to accomodate the fuel pump on the right and whatever may end up located on the lower left of the engine.

Its getting really close to going back to the blaster for a quick clean up and powder coating.

Got the Chassis back from the Powder coater today. It turned out great, seems to be much more durable than paint. I can reach my finger in behind the boxing plate and feel the powder coating on the back side which I dont think is possible with paint either without dipping, so I am really happy with the out come. The cost was $200.00 for blasting and baking it twice and $250.00 for the powder coating so $450.00 total.

The blaster called today the body is done. Its snowing like all get out here, so I told him I would pick it up in a couple days when its dry out. But it turned out pretty nice! No nasty surprises, the floor is going to need a little patch work but nothing showed up I didn't see before hand. The door bottoms and lower body panels are near perfect. I might try to get my buddy DaTinman to work some of his magic to save me some time to focus on the chassis, suspension ETC... I am also starting to gather parts for the motor build too. Here are a few pictures from the blaster.

While the body is off check and see if you can find the 3 places on the frame where the serial # has been stamped.

I know I've seen at least two 1 on top of the rail near the steering box and one on top of the rail towards the back. But I doubt they are visible now due to the powder coating.

Powder coating did not effect the visibilty of the numbers on my 40 frame.

My buddy did the powder coating I asked him to put it on thick, the numbers are not visible at all now.

    That is AWESOME! great find!

Yes, me too. Mine only had 2 that I could find, both on top of drivers side rail one near the front and one towards the rear. If there is a third(besides on the drivetrain) I couldn't find it.

I have been getting a little more done. The engine block with the TKO600 tranny is in for mock up. The trans just barely fit in there and I had to trim some of the CE top and bottom plates to make it fit. The motor/trans is sitting at a 5* down angle in relation to the chassis. I guess this will work out with the car at a 2-3* rake.

I also have the rear end housing in for mock up I had a custom width of 56 1/2" WMS to WMS made, with the pinion centered for this car. I got it from Quick Performance out of Iowa, Its a quality made piece and they are great to deal with.

Russco, I see you turned the shifter to the forward position, is that a no brainer? I'm loving this car of yours! I've bought a couple of 9 in 3rd members from the guys at QP in Iowa ...good service both times.
    Keep up the great work!
