While I, along with a majority of otheres, would agree, these comments could easily become a political direction for the H.A.M.B. Not a good thing. Let's keep it on track.

I don't know about this Ford, But the COE's of Internationals and Autocars of this era had suicide doors on one side and regular doors on the other.

Lou's Drive In, 1958. This business is also still open seasonally. I believe its owned by a distant relative of Sec. of Transportation and former Congressman Ray LaHood.

22. Yes it sure does. And back in school in the 50s & early 60s, they thought we'd be safe from them by hiding under our desks!

Reynolds Buick showroom in SoCal, opened 1964. Prominently displayed: The Riviera, a "halo" car that ran like a real demon!

THANKS, John.:D I think we kicked the "Shotgun Granny" pic around until we
got it down to a '51 Roadmaster.

BUT, the '49 Riviera is actually a more interesting topic! So I dug for
some info and pix.

Though some sources don't show the '49 Riviera hardtop coupe, Buick did, indeed,
make a production '49 Riv hardtop. And John noted;) that it was a MID-YEAR addition
to the Buick lineup, as well! Production numbers must have been very, very low.
(In the following 1950 model year, for comparison's sake, only 2,300 Riviera hardtops
were built.)

One does have to be curious just how many Rivieras were actually built for Model
Year '49. Any help from the Buick crowd?

'49 Buick "show" Riviera, silver and white with silver interior, thanks to LostShowCars. Indeed, this car
seems to be lost, extinct. But, for a time at least, it was for real.

Car guy Alden Jewell:cool: of the FlickR community agrees with our JohnBrown, confirming
that there was
a '49 Riviera hardtop coupe, and he posted these two ads. He also added
that the Riv was available with
the side sweepspear or with the standard Roadmaster
side trim.
