Local yard's last gasp... a picked clean, dead yard... nobody even wanted any parts off of this one. So hideous it's almost cool, couldn't let it get crushed.

Already have daily driver '69 Dart & projects... ahh what's one more, especially for something as weird as this. But what now, guys?

Prince Valiant the Frog awaits your answers...

There used to be a local guy that had a little Lancer. It was pearl white with chrome steel wheels and baby moons. I always like that little car for some reason.

Those are the kind of cars that are only cool when fixed up original and driven daily.
They make ugly customs and hot rods, but have a certain charm when just used like it would have been when it was new.

Nascar clone. They were so dominant vs flacons, corvairs, tempests etc, the series was cancelled due to lack of competition.

I've always wanted someone to make a little radical custom sports car based on one of these Valiants - something along the lines/proportions of the XNR show car.

I remember we had one when I was a kid , I thought it was the ugliest car ever made. haha
We drove that car all the way to New Mexico.....

  10. I always thought one of these would look great slammed in lime green metallic with lacework over the bonnet(Hood), roof and over the boot(Trunk). Some subtle pinstriping, keep it nice and clean, simple styling.

Or build a drag car out of it?

    Or just a nice cruiser?

Or make it into a good ol' Panelvan!

Does it run, I'd get it running / driving reliably, scuff and shoot with tractor enamel and just drive it, bumpers look like they'd clean off well, 15 in wheels with whatever mopar hubcap you like

I don't know that its that ugly. Its not as ugly as a '36 Ford. And looking at the photos it could be pretty cool. The good thing is you saved it. If you can't stand its looks I'm sure it will find a home without any bother.

Doc's photo of the lime green one, without the silly scoop and use chrome reverse wheels add a stove hot 318 poly and you're good to go ;)

That. Or something approximating it. If you wanted to throw some money at it, there's probably a 'Hyper Pak' intake hiding somewhere.

I used to hate them, thought they were way overdone next to the Corvair (the early Falcons were just boring) but I've come 'round to the position that they were really the only attractive Virgil Exner-era Mopar; the big cars are just too much.

Soft, light metallic paint, dropped 2" in the front. Chrome reverse/Supremes w/pinner white walls.

My pops had a pile of Lancers back in the day. The Valiants might even be "better" looking. Strange cars. Might as well run with it. I'd hunt down a '60 toilet seat trunk lid and an aluminum 225 with some Hyper Pak stuff on it for starters. Cool find!

    Best idea yet.

  22. Yep. Look great like this. They'll take a ballsy colour too- My favourite for R/S Vals- - golden brown metallics.

There is only one thing I would do with a ugly Toad like that car, and I'm a Mopar guy:

seem to remember a black one locally, silver below the beltline (where yours is white) had a hot 327 in it -- lowered a couple inches big diameter wheels in the back to fill out those wheel arches
tough lil street car in its time,, dunno where it went but it did look pretty cool

I bought a Valiant one year to use as my winter daily driver. Slant 6 and pushbutton transmission. A peppy little car, it would chirp tires on the 1-2 upshift if I held it in first for a while. Actually a cool little car, but I blew the transmission rocking it back and forth to get it out of a snowbank and that was the end of it.

I agree they look best when left stock or mostly stock.

There use to be one just like that that ran at the drags here in the 80’s …. he’d RPM it to the moon and stand it on the rear bumper every pass.
    I think it had a 440
