I have an old Coke cooler mounted behind the front seat. I'm using that as my battery box.

Thanks! I'm definitely going to have to do something...especially running flow masters. I will probably get some jute insulation? Not sure I spelled that correctly. I really want to install some Dynamat but that stuff is permanent and I might have to do more mods in the near future. I'm hoping being fully loaded with luggage, blankets, winter clothes, etc will further dampen some of the noise. The adventure we will have!!!:D

I thought the same thing when Jamie and I went to Bonneville...I wondered how she would handle it. I think she ended up having a better time then I did :D She'll have a blast!

I told her she is probably going to want to use ear plugs for the trip...Her eyes got big with this look like what am I getting myself into... I have been bracing her since we decide we are driving a hotrod that she will be experiencing a far from luxurious 3200 mile road trip. She's tough. Thats why I married her:D

After my wife and I made three 5000 mile round trips to the LARS wearing just earplugs in our roadster, I bought a XM Satellite Radio and noise cancelling earbuds for our next trip in 2007. At first my rather frugal, but tough little cookie Jan gave me hell for getting it because of the subscription cost and the limited use it would get. We drove for about two hours and it was working great, with fantastic sound and very little outside noise. About that time we were in the middle of Nebraska and I looked over to her and she gave me a huge smile and a "thumbs up" and said that's the best thing you could have done! We have always had one since then and since I love to drive in the wide open spaces out west, you never have a problem getting a station like a regular radio does and with over a hundred choices of commercial free programing, you never get tired of listening to it. I just put the little magnetic antenna out my cowl vent and mounted the receiver under the dash with the two headphones into a splitter that's plugged directly into it. I now use it in my '32 pickup with a windshield suction cup mount with the antenna mounted on the left corner of the roof with wire run through the door. I can move it from car to car and use it anywhere I go in any car. The noise cancelling earbuds make the sound even better but regular ones will work fine too. All you need is a cigarette lighter plug in for power and that's it. You can adjust the volume through the settings in the radio or on your headphones if they have volume control.

Here's where you can get them direct from XM: http://shop.siriusxm.com/edealinv/s...tegoryHome.vm&ctl_nbr=10600&catParentID=49759

Sometimes they'll sell a reconditioned radio for almost nothing just to get you to subscibe, check in their outlet store for deals like that here: http://shop.siriusxm.com/edealinv/s...00&catParentID=59294&intcmp=SHOP-HP-PROMOBOX3

Happy Motoring!

Starting to run out of nickel and dimes...must mean I'm getting close to having everything I need to get me and the mrs. to Austin! I decided a full hood would be good for the trip down in case we run into heavy snow or rain. I had the top...and Chris was nice enough to hook me up with some sides. I started pricing out hood latches...and originals are pricey on E-pay... so I decided speedway would be the best for now...$3.99 each- can't beat that:D I was expecting cheap cheap cheap quality, but when they showed up I was pleasantly surprised. They are really pretty nice. I also have all my window patterns made and hoping to have gl*** this weekend!! Checking things off the list...

Just imagine...a dark musty smelling shed with just a hint of light coming from the door...just enough light to see stacks of original deuce grill shells, firewalls, and sheet metal galore!!! Ha Ha... I wish;)

Nothing to exciting to post...still re***embling the car. Wiring is done. I got the gl*** back from the gl*** shop in record time... And its Extremely nice quality too:D Its all installed except the front doors. I'm retro fitting a back seat out of a Chevy cavalier into the stock 32 seat frame and its working slick and proving to be very comfy. Should be done tonight. Tomorrow morning I'm tackling the roof insert...adding a couple leafs to the rear spring, modifying the transmission floor cover...finish welding the chop...Checking things off the list!!:D I was hoping to have all the metal work perfect, instead it will be welded- Sanding the welds, hammer and dollying, fixing gaps/finish work will have to wait till after the trip...

Looks good. There's always next year. I hoped to have my roadster ready but it didn't happen. Instead freshened the motor in my coupe and leaving in the morning headed that way. Be safe.

So the Lonestar Roundup was awesome. As pissed as I was at myself for not being able to make my deadline... kinda relieved. On the trip home, my wife and I got caught in a bad storm in Wyoming all the way back to Bozeman, MT... Can you image no fender and windshield wipers when our "new car" looked like this
[IMG][/IMG]
I drilled a hole in my thermostat and fixed my engine heating problem...air pocket below the thermostat. Mounted my radiator cap... Finally I can start putting a few miles on and work out some more bugs:D

Kid, I just bought a dropped axle at a local swap meet that looks exactly like yours. Pounded and squeezed on the sides, and the top and bottom. Mine still has the hammer marks in it.

Do you have any confirmation of where yours came from. Everybody says "it's a MorDrop", but I don't believe them.

It sounds like a dago. All 3 of my "Dago" axles have hammer marks and little bit squished in the middle of the stretch drop
