On Friday night Winfield asks my girlfriend if she'd like to go to dinner? He took her to the Riddler's Ball where she got to rub elbows with hot rod royalty. He even had her back before 10:00. She was pretty excited to go and I was really happy for her.

The next day she was in the pin up contest and did really well for her first try. Later that night I won the award from Fay Butler for best metal! I was shocked as I brought my best up sedan that I've been hammering on for the last five years. He said it wasn't just about the metal, the award was about the people too. He hoped it would inspire me to keep creating things with metal. What a great guy, I'm truly honored to win this award.

After that we went to dinner with Hellcat666, 57JoeFoMopar, and Joe's girlfriend. Then we stopped by Denise's and watched the shenanigans over there.

On Sunday night we were loaded up and leaving when I saw Winfield only had one person helping him break down the display. I walked over and gave him a hand. The three of us got everything ready in the trailer, then a bunch of guys showed up to push the Pacifica show truck in there. After that, everybody split and it was just Gene and me for a half hour strapping it down and finishing up. He thanked me for the help and I told him it was an honor. He walked over to my girl, gave her a kiss on the cheek and thanked her for waiting.

Anyway, as far as Autorama goes that was the best one ever. I'm already working on my roadster for next year. Here's a few highlights. Sounds like a nice weekend for you guys. I saw your car there. Nice job and well deserving of an award. Maybe I'll see ya cruising Woodward this year.
Gene is a great guy certainly an inspiration. I have met him a few times and he does show a genuine interest in others builds. He is a ladies man. After taking a picture with my son and I, he pointed to my future daughter-in-law and her friend and had the ladies pose for a picture with him. Hope to see him again this year in Syracuse

Scott that's awesome. I helped him set up on Thursday, who would have thought doing grunt work would be a weekend high point. You sir are a brave man Gene's a player. When I had my 54 down there Gene came over, looked at it, gave it a thumbs up, and than proceeded to hug my wife. I was going ga ga over the thumbs up and the fact he talked to me about it. Later I showed the wife some pics go Gene from the 50's and she said " yeah I was sure he was good looking" and I need to make sure I keep myself up like him. Not to be a creep , but she has the looks, digs cars, helps ya load and unload a trailer, she might be a keeper!

Thanks, yeah I'm a lucky guy for sure. I heard some stories about Gene but she says he was a perfect gentleman, and paraded her around by the hand at the Ball. She had a great time.

Scott brought his trophy and hot rod to lunch today. It was 26 degrees and snowing but that didn't stop stop Scott from getting a little cruising in.

It was pretty cold. The snow stopped and it got up to about 28 a little later. My bearings for the flathead showed up so I had to run them to the machine shop so I hopped back in the hot rod. That pin up chick of mine even tagged along. She's pretty hard core too!

A few years ago I had cabin feaver really bad. I hadn't been on my motorcycle in a month or so. There wasn't any ice on the road, so.....

It was 7 degrees. Probably one of the dumbest things I've done. Open helmet, no windscreen, after about 15 minutes I couldn't even pull in the clutch. And the strangest thing is I absolutely hate being cold!!!
