as said nicamrvin, silver has a small yellow component that differentiates it from the actual chrome, the picture is not tinted varnish

this is correct. for production like eviroment I would stick with Alsa chrome tinted clear coat, if not on an production or business enviroment you can try and mix your own tinted clear coat

    Alsa tinted clear coat

do you want to know how good is your tinted clear? or fine tune it? well you can do it by silvering silver spoons and trying them out. first you need to prep the spoon for the silvering then silver the spons and clear coat them with none tinted clear coat wait 1 or 2 days for the clear to fully cure. then test how good is your mix with one or 2 spoons, you can adjust the mix if its too yellow or too violet. always keep a real chorme piece at hand so you can cross check to see it..

here the silvered plastic spoons(no clear coat it)

tinted clear coat vs none tinted clear coat

    Here compared to real chrome

i had a very strange problem today! My silver liquids didnt work good! silver chemicals work slowly, not so good as always and after silvering on surface was blue areas, like blue water drops! I tryed to get in balance my spray gun, but nothing good! I decided that if i spray on surface wet coat of silver for start, and then silver+reducer then all works +/- good!

Maybe problem was with T`, because in my country winter is back F*CK and outside is -7-14`C and inside was not more than 17` I think!

    Hi Everyone,

Wow all of you have created some really great pieces. I need some help. I have been trying to overcome a yellowing problem when I spray the clear coat. I am using Shermin Williams urethane clear and as soon as I spray it on you get the yellow tint. I have also tried to tint it purple and blue with no luck. It still has a yellow tint. If I spray enough clear on the piece to remove the yellow then the piece looks to dark like a black chrome. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

This is such a great forum, I have learned alot from all of you.

    Thanks

I had a problem, when we apply the silver has to be very clear white and not a dark silver, but to our eyes look good, to apply the clear coat will darken much.
the details we do not see with the eyes of the varnish are then

Ou Yes , U are right! Try this trick! Take some glass piece l, clean it and silver it! Blow of the water and look on sun or lamp! If silver layer looks ok, this mean that problem is on silver! If u will se some darker places or something like dark water drops, than problem is under! Maybe your problem is on silver! Try to wash and blow off the water 2-3 times
