i like the year change, now it has customs! still a small percentage but at least there are some. and it is pretty much local for me.
I thought I'd hate the change, because I don't care for the muscle and pony cars, but so far there have been so few of them that you may not notice. There is a good number of '50s customs that have about replaced the loss of the pissed off pre-48 owners that stopped going. Car count is nearly the same, but there are fewer vendors. It is still a good show.
I'm thinking about going. Its the closest "big" show for me,I live near Pgh. And not going to Columbus, but might go to Syracuse--never been there Is there a HAMB gathering there
If you want a "big" show, Syracuse gets about twice the cars plus many more other activities. I don't try to compare them. I go to York every year, and to Syracuse every two years.
That is about the same for me. I missed last year because of scheduling, but I'll probably go this year-it's about the same but I wish there'd be more vendors and, as always, the swap meet is pretty lame. The price isn't too bad because you can park on the street.
........I think he means that some folks tend to gather in some of the perimeter parking lots outside the fairgrounds. Some feel the entry fee is on the high side so I guess they pay the spectator fee and leave cars outside. Entry for current NSRA members is $40 with $10 discount if you pre-register by May 10th. Non members ante up $70 at the event or $60 with pre-reg. That includes 1 yr. membership (basically the subscription to their monthly magazine). Both entry fees are for 2 attendees and the car for the week-end. Hope this helps Gary..................Don.
Hey Gary I have gone the last couple of years. Not as big as Columbus but you can leave your canopy up all week end and don't have to fight for a spot every day. Didn't see much as far as newer cars. Let me know if your going I'll look you up. Are you going to ***berland this year?
I've been to every Nats east since the first one at Timonium so needless to say I live close and have made many friends over the years. I enjoy going just because of meeting and hanging out with them. I don't belong to the NSRA anymore, so I get a buddy of mine to register for me. Cost me 30 bucks for the whole weekend. I'll keep an eye out for your roadster and with any luck, I'll make a new friend!
To clarify: York is a 2 hour haul for me and I usually can only go one day. So I leave my HAMB friendly car at home and drive my daily-park on the street and use my time to look at cars rather than keep people from tire kicking mine.
I don't think its a problem really, my buddy registers his car and mine as though it's a second car of his. I just don't want the magazine that comes with the membership and there are not any other NSRA shows that I go to. Problem solved.
If you do register, even if you don't bring a car in, you stand a chance at winning something from their Super Prize Program. I've been fortunate on two occasions (once @ York and once @ Richmond, Va.) to win some pretty nice stuff. Both times it was a package deal with more than one item, sometimes they include things like $100 certificate to Ron Francis wiring and right now I have a very nice aluminum gas tank that I won and would like to sell. pm me if you might be interested. Another item was a very nice Cooling Components fan and shroud which I sold.
Gary, If you will pm your address, I will mail you an entry form out of their magazine if you want. Still plenty of time to pre-register. ( May 10th)...............Don.
I don't know if I will per-register---Don't know what NSRA's cancellation policy is. Last year I per-registered for GG's Columbus and got real sick 2 days before the event---all they will do is give you p*** to another show in the same year IF you cancel 2 wks prior---If something comes up within the 2 prior wks of the show---you are screwed
Is there a Hooters,or barbeque joint or someplace fun that we could meet Fri,or Sat night for some food, drink,& BS session?
I've been to all Nats East Shows..It use to be great when camping was part of the weekend. Entry then was 5000 or more ..Last few yrs, its been around 3000 ...Too close for anyone from Pa , Ny , Md or NJ. not to go...
Funny you should ask. Read Sunday's York Daily Record. http://www.ydr.com/business/ci_22830817/sign-hooters-york-closed
Same here, the night life was a lot of fun, I stopped going a couple of years ago but I was going back to around 75-76 in Timonium. They use to have some great pit beef in Timonium.
